Flights to Krabi for Christmas

Wouldn't Phi Phi be packed? (not to mention expensive)

Well it's all expensive, and there's a greater variety of accomodation on the islands. I don't think it would be more crowded than Railay - most tourists at Christmas are flying in, staying at Krabi, then flying out again. A (substantial) minority would take the boat to an island. Lanta's certainly not packed, although it's getting more popular - I was there for Christmas a couple of years back, v relaxing.

My friend goes to Lanta and loves it.

Agree that Railay's very small, but spectacular surroundings, and Phi Phi's very pretty, but when I went there (pre-tsunami), the island was bursting at the seams.:( Don't know what it's like now though

Anyway, you're better off listening to others as I've only been to Thailand once so amn't qualified to say :D

Our flight in gets in at 10pm and back is on NY day at 10am so I'd rather stay on Krabi.

Still waiting to hear back on loads of places I've emailed.

Thanks for your help..

If you must stay in Krabi, Railey beach is nice and probably the nicest.

I was not impressed with Krabi, everyone was trying to rip us off so we got out of there as soon as possible. I would definately go to Koh Phi Phi for a few days (two hours away) and visit Maya Beach (where the film 'The Beach' was filmed) Beautiful.

Koh Lanta is quite nice as well but not in the low season, everything was shut and there was noone about. It should be rocking by Christmas though.

Watch out for tour operators and street touts, they are the biggest rip off shitsters I have come across in years of traveling. Book all your boats through the ferry terminal.
