Flight of the Conchords - New series

Well when I worked at The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board, oh yes, pen would come out as pin, so I'd say sex would come out as six, not that they ever mentioned it. fish and chips would veer towards feesh and cheeps, but shortened vowels, iirc.

Nah - sex is more sux.

Fish and Chips is more fush and chups.

Unless my Kiwi wife and her whole family have been putting on fake accents all this time...

:hmm:

But yeah - pen is pin.

TBF the extended family and all our kiwi friends are Aucklanders - the accent obviously does change subtly across the country.

It was a real coincidence that Greg Proops turned up in the opening episode: I had been thinking about him earlier that day, and the fact that I hadn't seen him in anything for ages.

I've downloaded and watched the full second series. I have to say that it is excellent and way up there with my favourite show ever! 10/10

You can get HD versions of this from many popular online download services.

Agreed.

I was a bit worried by the first episode of series 2, but they seem to be regaining their form.

Definitely. It keeps the standard up all the way through the series too. I almost wish I hadn't seen it, or that I could erase my memory, Eternal Sunshine style, just so I can enjoy it all again.

yeah just change all 'e' sounds to a short 'i' sound and you have instant kiwi accent. ie. Bret = Brit, dead = did etc.

I loved the first series of this. It wasn't something I found imediately brilliant, but the more I watched it the funnier I found it. Watched the mug episode from S2, it was still good, but I agree with the comment that you can tell they have a bigger budget now, which always tends to dilute the focus of comedy a bit I think. Still enjoyed it though.

I'm really enjoying the 2nd series. The Australian episode was gold, the running jokes have been really on point and stupidity of Jermain and Brett is perfect.

Was the last of the series last night. I'm sure there were more episodes in the first series.

From the ending it looked like the last one ever. :(

There were 12 episodes in the first series. Only 10 in this one.

I kind of hope they don't make another series. I've enjoyed this series, but I think one more and they'd have trouble keeping it from feeling formulaic or contrived. Most comedies only really have 2 series in them.

The ending was good though, quite understated which suits the program I think. I'm glad they weren't tempted to go out with a bang or anything.

I don't think another series would work -especially as S2 wasn't up to the same standards as the last one.

Plenty of scope for a Spinal Tap-style mockumentary in a few years though.

Oh, and Mel should have her own series.

That understated, I can't even remember it!
