Flickr drops Paypal

Thanks for the explanations, appreciated. I've never been to Flikr and just assumed it was somewhere to store your photos (like photophucket etc)

Paypal is a joke, the sooner Google kills the Paypal monopoly, the better.

I did wonder for a long time why people with their own websites bothered to go onto Flickr as well until I tried it.

It's a good place to bump into interesting photographers. And people like the facility to be able to "bookmark" favourite pictures.

But Yahoo/Flickr seem keen on getting a bit nasty if you don't "play nicely" or try to sell something, even though you've coughed up a bit of cash for a "pro" account.

A number of Flickr users seem to be migrating to/trying-out Ipernity as an alternative. It seems to be very like Flickr in many ways & a community is developing. I've signed-up on a free accoint there but have not uploaded yet. Mainly because this weekend was shite!

However, the paypal thing didn't put me up or down either way as I've never got-on well with it at all.

I jumped on the bandwagon and got an ipernity account too, but I really don't like the feel of it. I can't work out the navigation, or what anything means, or how to do anything!

I'm staying with Flickr. Not for their benefit, for mine.

e2a: ok, this has just spurred me to go and have another look. And oh my gosh could it be more of a rip off of Flickr? Some things are practically identical!
