Anyone remember when the Dogstar used to do flavoured vodka?
Yeah. Used to have some good combinations with their array of fruit juices. :)

That Bison Grass vodka is absolutely disgusting though

Zubrowka? Nah. It's lovely imo. The only vodka I have enjoyed drinking straight (apart from some home-filtered stuff*)

On a similar note to 'drumstick vodka', my gf made some jelly bean vodka a few years ago... was very (a bit too) sweet, but tasted of jelly beans and was very very easy to drink.
A word of warning though: DO NOT eat the sweets after they have been sitting in the spirit. The jellybeans left were, quite possibly, the grossest thing I have ever eaten

*home-filtered vodka.
If moneys a bit tight, or you've got a nasty cheapo bottle of supermarket vodka, pour it through a water filter a few times (the more the better). The result is shockingly smooth... dangerously so :D

My absulut (lol - see what I did there - lol) favourite vodka is 42 Below from lovely, lovely New Zealand.

As well as non-flavoured, they do some Fruity ones; Feijoa, Passionfruit and Kiwi, and of course, my all time super favourite, Manuka Honey.

Neat and slightly gooey straight from the freezer, the Manuka is truly, ball-achingly lovely.

Recommended.

The Honey one's lovely but the Feijoa flavour tastes a bit like mouthwash doncha think???

Yep, I made a batch once or twice when I used to work there, the Toffee one was a particularly tricky mess to make!

Cherry bakewell vodka? :D

Speaking of Absolut, I love their pepper flavour vodka

Absolut is vile. You are paying for the name. Same with Smirnoff.
Absoluts flavoured vodkas are not infused they are added afterwards.

Ever tried making your own fancy vodka? Try skittles vodka. Take all the green ones out of a packet and stick the rest in the bottle.

Wait about a week and they will have gone. There is a bit of scum but you can filter this off.

I use a britta water filter. A lot of the taste of good vodka is down to the water (strangely). In a blind taste test vodka experts found they could not taste the difference between belvedere or cheap arse kalashnikoff or what ever after it had be Britta filtered 6 times.

Do this with your skittles vodka and freeze it for a real cheap treat.

See.

I've never had this before - do you reckon you'd be able to get it pre-made at Polish shops? There's one just opened opposite work :)

It's a little odd yes, but then I don't really like feijoas anyway!

The wife loves em......

OOH! :)

How many strawberry quarters, almonds (is chopped/sliced OK?) & cherries?

Thanks

If you drink about a third of the bottle (hard work I know :)) and make up most of the room with strawberries and the rest with cherries you'll be about right. The almonds don't take up much space (whole or sliced is fine).

I ordered a bottle of this for Christmas yesterday,

It's the drink of champions

I'm not a big fan of the sweeter flavoured vodkas, but love Zubrowka. Also nice is fennel vodka, and ice-cold, red-hot chilli vodka.

Yeah thats a good one.

Mrs Suplex is out this evening so
I think I will dine on vodka tonight.

Hmm, i haven't been able to drink the stuff after a rather messy night a few years back, but now all these ideas are swiming around my mind... :)

This could be interesting for Hogmanay!

I have all bar the strawberries. Will get them tonight :D

I think i'm going to go shopping tomorrow:

1 Bottle smirnof
1 Bottle Tesco's own brand
3 Packets of skittles (one to eat while making it)
1 Water filter

Then i start doing some scientific testing, the bottles will be split into smaller portions for various treatment methods to acertain the qualatitive difference between unfiltered, once, twice and thrice filtered and skittle flavoured (both filtered and unfiltered).

I'm really bored at the moment.

Nooooo no no no no

Take 1 bottle cheap vodka, and packet Skittles. Remove green skittles, crying "Begone, foul harridans". Empty packet into vodka bottle. Mop up escaped vodka and collect errant skittles from floor. Wipe and return to bottle.

Place bottle in dishwasher. Allow to cool. A bit. Drink.

You can do the same with Mars bars. It's fucking lush and you don't have to wait for anything to infuse. Admittedly, you get students calling you cheap and tacky but you're pissed and rushing off the sugar so you don't care

Best vodka I've tried. Unfortunately, the company was just sold to one of the big concerns. Hope the quality stays up.

Their "South" gin is top notch, too.

I didn't realise they did gin too!

I love gin.

Oh well - I will be in NZ in February - looks like I will be filling up my duty free allowance pretty quick.

:)

I think you will find that Chilli anything is fantastic.

:p

Normally I'd agree with you but not the vodka!! trust me on this... or if you've tried it and like it then   youre just a wrong wrong person!!! ;) :D

Our danish friend makes salt liqourice vodka which I reckon is lovely.

Salt liqourice is an acquired taste, tastes faintly of salt (no shit sherlock) and ammonia - I like it though.

I have tried chilli vodka & it is indeed wrong. In a very good way tho! ;)

Black pepper vodka is also a very good cough mixture! :D

That Cherry Bakewell sounded so nice I thought I'd have a go....

excuse the staging of photo as the rest of the house is a tip, heres looking forward to New Years....hic :D

Oooo you'll have to let us know how it turns out baffled!

I tried the pepper vodka btw whilst away, and it kinda half repulsed me and half attracted me. Hmm
