Flashback 1979: Rock Against Racism gig under attack, W10

I remember hearing about that. Knew some folk there. Actually there's a book coming out shortly about that era and before, culminating in the Crass gig at Conway hall when the BM got battered to fuck.

Oi was all a bit later than that, 80/81 but before then there was always a far-right skin element. just look at any photos from sham or menace gigs from 77.

Ironic to think what Doug and Tony of Crisis turned into later,no?

actually, i often think just how mental gigs back then were. Now if i was in a club or bar and a big fight kicked off i probably wouldnt ever go back there.

back then it was a run of the mill, almost expected occurrance, for the skins to kick off, folk to get battered, bottled etc.

still, at least we 'kept it within our own' back then. :D

I thought it was Lucy Toothpaste who edited 'Temporary Hoarding'.

It was, along with assistance from others. Bushell wrote some articles for the paper though.
