Flags

i'm not looking for a lengthy debate about flags. If i am pissed off about flags or not doesn't make any difference whatsoever to all of the above, does it.
But you of all people talking about 'don't stoke the dividing lines' is a bit rich, given your yesterdays pronouncements.
If I was a cheerfuller person i'd laugh.

Given that everything in your view is reducible to 'Brexit' and to a dogged refusal to accept it's a done deal and that its time to move on I did laugh...

You have no idea about me, you really don’t, i 100% know it’s a done deal ffs. I got over losing that vote years ago like ive got over losing elections and all sorts, and you’re projecting some Remoaner Archetype onto me that’s just odd. I’m fine, I’m unaffected, for various reasons.
You saying ‘don’t play their dividing game’ tho come on.

I don't an issue with either. But its about context and, in this case, the political intent of the Government.

We can sit here now and write the headlines, the furious twitter debate, the posturing, the 'though pieces, the tortured Labour response etc now couldn't we.
Given Starmer's attempts to wrap himself in the flag recently, the Labour response is likely to be something like "the Tories have stitched us up again", isn't it?

They would certainly look pretty foolish if they attempt to challenge or criticise it in any way.

Der Stermer is going to try to outdo them.

On the other hand it gives great scope to rile eg cops whose flags are frequently flown filthy and so dishonour the flag they affect to uphold.

Are there really union jacks on the vaccines that people are getting?
(i remember reading that a while ago, that there'd be little flag-stickers on each vial)?

A bit of cloth on a stick. Fuck the flag shaggers & those that give a fuck whether it is only the Union Jack in nautical settings.

Idk how come they're so sure (in that article about the vaccine flagging attempt) that all the flag fuckery is all intended to weaken the resolve of ye scots.

On them?

If Starmer was PM there would be Union Jacks in each dose of vaccine so we'd all have little red white and blue molecules circulating through our blood vessels.

why are they doing this, is it to try to celebrate the happy post-brexit heroism of our plucky nation or is it to try to head off the inevitable breakup of the union with some weird idea of subliminal messaging.
I do find it frightening tbh. Have an irrational gut reaction to flags that's similar to when i see a load of men in identical t-shirts like football ones walking towards me, a little bit of fear.

I think this - Scottish government waste money on EU flags - your views | Edinburgh News (scotsman.com) factors

Oh, Union Jacks? OK, I’ll vote no.
If you think about it too much (as in, for more than a second or so) it’s actually quite disturbing that this was a sincerely attempted government initiative, union flags on every vaccine that we’re all getting injected with, so we don’t die, it’s not exactly the height of subtlety from the hearts and minds department psych grads.

Also, nurses often say “look away if you want”, so lots of people wouldn’t see the tiny, tiny flag.

And anyway it’s a huge misunderstanding of Scotland’s relationship with the Union flag. It carries meaning that they may not be understanding in Downing Street.

Not a fan of this fleg, despiste a general liking of vexillology. (Which I had hoped this thread to be) :(

The Union Jack, the Monarchy, the National Anthem. They all perform one very useful function. Any political player who shows any respect for them, who relies on them for psychological support or who uses them to coerce others into doing the same is deserving of nothing but contempt. A really straightforward shorthand.
