Fixing knackered headphone leads?

Back in the day when I looked after a lot of headphones, I always kept better quality cable, so whenever they failed, I could replace the leads with something that would take more abuse/last longer. Also heat-shrink and a variety of grommets for better strain relief.
I've always replaced broken leads/dodgy jacks but this new cottony wire makes it all a ballache. 'Progress,' eh? :(

Yes - it was just becoming common back then - over about five years, I saw the quality and strength of most OEM cables degrade significantly. I wonder if it had anything to do with planned obsolesce and/or the market price of copper?

So these £12 headphones- with removable lead - sound astonishingly good.

They're a strange company, selling a mix of real cheapo audio stuff and high end, plus 3D printers!

I'm ordering another pair of these as back up.

I have a pair of these; agreed, they're very good - I mainly use them as monitoring headphones when recording. Surprisingly sturdy for 12 quid.
I haven't tested them in the boozy confines of the DJ booth but they certainly seem pretty tough. The bass is surprisingly good for something so cheap!

First go with aspirin - magic :)
At some point I will locate my collection of broken headphones ...

The fumes were fairly unpleasant.

One of my younger colleagues asked “why on earth do you keep tubes in there” when he stumbled across my now rarely used toolkit in the back of a cupboard last week.

The youth of today...! :(

I had of coursed hauled it out to fix the coffee filter, as a bit of its tubing had failed.
