Parsley? hmmmm.

I'll bid for that jar of capers. It's an artifact of great historical import. It will become the holy grail of U75
 
I'd been registered only a fortnight when this thread aired originally, and i managed to miss it. So glad you bumped it! Comedy gold. :cool:
 
In a perfect world, where fish were not endangered, in my opinion, the fish for fish pie should be two thirds fresh cod and one third smoked (Finnan) haddock.

The haddock is marginally less endangered than the cod, so you could substitute fresh haddock for fresh cod, but it doesn't have quite that chunky translucent flakiness that cod has.

I don't think that prawns, anchovies or capers are improvements.
Agreed, on all counts. Salmon is an abomination in a fish pie also. It's a comfort food - no strong flavours. :mad:

Have to say, I'm partial to a bit of mild cheese in the sauce, of which there should be plenty.
