Well, _almost_ opposite. About 50 yards further "up", ie north, past the NCP carpark, past the poncey Chop House, just before the junction with Exmouth Market and where Mount Pleasant is.

One room is the takeaway, and there's a cubbyhole through to the seating area.

Absolutely fantastic fish and chips.

There's a half decent chippy on Cambridge Heath Road just passed the Library park at Bethnal Green. Can't eat in though.

I would compare it favourably with the FnC I get at 'home' in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex where the fish get driven half a mile up the river and dropped off for a short stroll up John St

Tollingtons near the junction of Tollington Park and Stroud Green Road (N4, Finsbury Park bit of Islington) is a good chippie. Bit expensive, but huge portions.

And i'm a northerner, so i do know what a decent chippie is...

I reckon there's a lot of hyperbole spoken by northerners about London fish and chips.

It's to make up for the poverty and the lack of education. "We might be t'thick n' that, but ower chips are right nice"
