Fish and chip shops in London

Forgot - there's really good one off Tottenham Court Road, too - on Whitfield Street, basically opposite the Habitat etc, behind that grubby square.

Masters Super Fish, Waterloo Road

Best in London imo

I've been there a few times and I have to say it is the best I've had so far in london, though the chips could be better. And I wish they wouldn't use those plastic/polystyrene trays.

Relahni, are you living in se16 still? Whereabouts is the F+C shop? I could do with a local chippie.

I agree the two best fish n chips in London Superfish and Olleys are both let down by the chips a bit.

The quality of the fish more than makes up for this though.

My local in West Norward adds beef dripping into the oil they fry the chips in, and I've never had better chips anywhere ever.

Hard luck veggies :D

A good chippy has to keep you waiting, cooking each bit of fish to order. I know of a fucking top spot in Hounslow, but that's no fucking good to me.

Anyone know of a chippy nearer to the Strand than Rick & Sole Plaice?

Indeed, I believe that this is the real reason that chish and fips are supposed to be so much better 'oop north' as that is what they do.

Forgot - amazing story, but utterly overrated and extremely expensive one mentioned near top of thread somewhere near Marchmont Street?

During the miners strike, the NUM headquarters were somewhere nearby on Euston Road, I believe, and the top union officials used to go there for fish and chips.

And MI5 put bugs in the upholstery (it's got deep red sofa style chairs....)

Great story... North Sea fish restaurant?

Weird place... went there once and was surprised how expensive it was. To be fair the food was actually quite good but you would have hoped so for the price.

Arthur spending too much members' subs by the sounds of it!

What's the name and address of this nirvana?

Best fish and chips I've had in London would have to be at The Sea Shell in Lisson grove, have had takeaways and sit down meals in the restaurant and have never been disappointed.

Not cheap though and the queue for takeaways used to be a pain in the arse but worth the wait.

£5 for takeaway cod or haddock! F*** my boots!

And they want more money for chips!

You forget that in expensive parts of London, EVERYTHING costs more, not just the houses.

I got fantastic fish and chips for about £2-£3 in Leeds city centre not all that long ago
