First sign of approaching winter

Maggot said:
Approaching winter, my arse! It was like June today!

I really wish I could have appreciated it more, but I just had to stay in all day and hide from the heat :(

Bit of rain this morning, though – nice and fresh

What are you all on about?! Chill in the air, hot chocolate before bed, time to start wearing coats and socks?!? It's still bloody hot out there. It was 28 degrees yesterday.

it's darker in the mornings, today was the first day there was that crisp autumn thing in the air with bright sunshine. I hate wearing socks and proper shoes again. :(

I went for a lovely long walk through Bushey Park last night at dusk.

There were autumn red leaves eveywhere

Flocks of Canadian geese flying overhead as they head south for the winter - last night, we must have had over 500, many smaller flocks were merging together and their honking was so loud it even drowned out my son's music.

Also, we live in the middle of a forest and the leaves are starting to change. Slowly, all the greens change into brilliant yellows, oranges and reds. Each species changes at a different time, so every day the forest is different.

The final sign of summer ending and winter starting is the final push of all road construction to finish before the frost. We have a parade of gravel trucks going down our little dirt road as they hurry to finish one of our neighbouring roads.

Last night.. walking in the evening around 10:30pm... the air had that autumn smell.... the one that goes with halloween and fireworks night!

Right it has finally got cold enough for me to put the central heating on.

It's dark when I get up for work.

The weather was miserable today.

NOW is the time to start talking about the approaching Winter/Autumn, not August you nutters!
