First sign of approaching winter

Stew recipes are plaguing my mind.
I'm wearing a cardie at work on top of my usual t-shirt or breezy top.
I'm cursing packing all the winter stuff away in vacuum bags.

oh, fucking hell, 2 minutes ago I looked out of my window at the sky was black and it was windy and it was raining...

Now the sky is blue again! It'll probably snow in the next 5 minutes...

Summer is over.
 
i am wearing a jumper and the kids are watching a dvd while snuggling under a blanket on the sofa :(

its august ffs :(
 
Yes, shamed by aquas thread on here about what you do with your recipes, I dug out all of mine from the exploding kitchen drawer and was rarrring over macaroni cheese, leek and potato soup, cullen skink, and pea and ham soup :)

I had to put my feet in the arms of my fleece today at work to keep them warm, pulled the rest up over my knees :o :D

If flip flop time is over (I think it might be) that'll be the earliest I ever remember them going away :(
 
Started sawing up wood for the open fire - thinking of ordering coal.

Summer is still here.

Yesterday I paddled in the sea and sunbathed on the beach.

today I went for a lovely sunny walk.

It ain't over yet!

I wonder how many people on this thread are still doing their Autumny things?

No, tiny garden, tiny bulbs....stuff like Muscaria, Puschkinia, Galanthus, Crocus, Fritillaria meleagris...in fact, when I looked at the invoice it's actually 800 bulbs but I gave some of the Puschkinia and Muscaria to a friend.
 
Just lately I've been waking up early in the morning just before the sun comes up and feeling that slight chill in the air. It's great at this time of year, fresh and clean and just chilly enough to know that if you put your feet arms & shoulders back under the quilt you'll instantly be warm again. It's also an early morning wake up giving me time to cuddle down with mr bdc for half an hour before the alarm goes off. It's a toe curlingly good feeling.

slept with no t shirt on and the window open. big northern jessie. :p

my housemate keeps trying to put the heating on and then wodering why it keeps getting turned off. she doesnt seem to understnad that if she is cold she might consider ooh i dont know a jumper? or some socks? rather than putting the heating on and walking around in shorts:mad:
 
my car was covered in dew this morning (is it dew, or frost or something anyway)

and when i first went outside the house I could see my breath :D not in the middle of winter way but in a definate "its getting colder" way

it ws great :D
 
I also had the 'ooh, i can see my breath' moment. Definitely a nip in the air this morning.

:)

I bought a navy greatcoat at a festival this year - my mate says I look like the gestapo :(

(but i'll be warm ;))
 
I love Autumn! Every year I switch it to "favourite season" status, until the Spring comes around again :o

I'm going to take lots of lovely photos of leaves and frosty mornings etc :)
