First national strike in US car industry in over 30 years

I don't see the need for those kinda digs, but there you go.

To be honest some of the worst people for pre-conceptions are those that have a massive issue with far left groups (usually trotskyist groups). They go on about others seeing the world through small left groups, but it seems to dominate their thinking as much as anyone.

I don't think butchers views on issues are that clear. I know that he supports the Anarchist Federation methods and the IWCAs methods but as the organisations are very different (and indeed I've seen some IWCA supporters slate organisations like the AF) I haven't got a clue what his views are on this or that topic.

I'm not asking for a grandiose speach about the need for local campaigns in every locality internationally or the need for an anarchist federation, I'm just saying that on whatever topic we're talking about it helps to give a positive alternative rather than just being sarcastic and belittling other approaches.

What would be the common ground between the IWCA and the AF regarding trade unions? And how might it distinguish them from the Trotskyists on these boards?

I wasn't talking about the differences between the IWCA and the AF on the subject of trade unions, but their wider methodology as IWCA supporters have slated the AF before on threads I've read.

In terms of trotskyists approach to trade unions, it varies widely from organisation to organisation.

I haven't got a clue what the current AF position on unions is (last saw a resolution from them on unions about two years back), and the IWCA don't seem to focus much on trade unions. The piece of the postal strike was the first time I'd seen them comment on union stuff for ages.

We;ll have to agree to disagree on this one then!

:D :D :D

I honestly don't know what butchers opinions are on this or what his opinions now. I used to think he had more of a class anarchist view, now he seems to be closer to an IWCA type method. And what his views on unions are I don't know either.

Anyway have a good weekend! :)
