Fireworks and me poor dog

err just come to this thread and it's all been said. (DAP, ignore the noise etc)

Reassure a bad choice of word to use Danny that's all :)

I realise that. Now. (I thought "reassuring-to-dogs" conveyed my meaning within the context, but I concede that it was open to misunderstanding).

:)

I've got it sussed when I'm indoors with Jake during the evening, I do my best to take no notice when he's pacing about nervously on the laminate. But it's when I'm out with him that's it's hard, I'm not taking him out after dark at all now (tho, he drinks gallons of water when he's nervous and must be bursting for a piss:( ) but the fireworks go off in the daylight as well:mad: Just now I tried to take him out, he was O.K for a bit but by the time we'd got to the top of the street he heard 2 rockets going off in the distance, and he was struggling so hard on the lead I almost flew home:eek:

darn, the diazopan I got from the vets does'nt seemed to be working, he's worse than ever tonight, keeps trying to jump up onto my lap..

((dogs))

I've dug out the poor boys kong (one of those rubber toys that you fill with treats) and once the bangs start I've been putting on telly loud etc and giving him a peanut-buttery kong to take his focus of it. Seems to calm him a bit, but I'm wondering if that's only cos maybe the bangs have stopped by the time he's finished, might not work on bonfire night etc. Also, bit worried that it seems like "praising" his fearful behaviour.

Some brainless and heartless near-neighbours left their dog shut out of the house all night till they returned sometime after eleven. Fireworks were going off left right and centre and the poor thing was terrified.

unbelivable how thoughtless some people can be innit:(

Things were alrightish with my dog last night, the diozapan must have kicked in at some point, even tho he was still a bit nervous he managed to sleep for most of the evening (then he came to life at about 3am demanding a walk:rolleyes: :D )
I reckon tonight will be quite bad what will it being Saturday but then(hopefully) we'll be over the worse.
