Firefox 3 final officially out if you can find it

The new way the address bar 'guesses' what existing url you want was a bit odd at 1st, but quite like it now, seems to immprove the more you use it.

'Kin hell - Safari's a right mare according to that!
Not surprising. I bet there's a whole load of OSX code running in a compatibility layer.

I'd be interested to see a similar test for the mac browsers too, actually. OSX is supposed to have better memory management than XP - don't know if that'd make a difference.

According to this test firefox 3 is the most memory efficient browser on windows.
That's possibly the most unscientific test ever done though. Random pages were visited, Acrobat and Java were probably not used. Probably?! There's so many variables there as to be almost meaningless.

Another fault, Japanese characters aren't rendering for me. coming up as little squares with tiny numbers in them. Most other character sets seem ok. Any ideas? Couldn't find owt by googling.

Firefox 2 kept hanging on my machine, Christ knows how many reboots a day. Firefox 3 seems a much happier bunny.

That's all I have to add.

You Tube, also, it seems, at least at my end, for some reason... when embedded in a forum... Anyone else?

Ironic, cos this release has seen concentrated effort on performance and memory usage :)

I didn't really have any particular problems with 2.0.14 on the performance front, however the memory usage thing did annoy me a bit.

It bugs me that they've made it look so shit though, I hate the new download window especially. To me the design gone backwards and not forwards.

I load it with different addons and voila...;)

Btw, today the audio-visual stuff is working fine. Must have been the not rebooting after the install...

I concur, and initially it seems to be hanging even more than usual on my shitty 256 meg win2k laptop. :(

Try Ubuntu [with tweaking it for memory etc. usage, installing it with a decent size Swap partition] and maybe it'll be better?

It appears to be shit.

Keeps locking up.

Anyone know how I can get back to version 2. ?

I may have to resort to Opera. :p

Uninstall and install v. 2.x. Easy.

But it's cool here, now... Reboot and then try...

Give it a bit of time...

Started crashing badly, when on Hotmail and opening up other tabs and then deleting the email notifications [with the link to open a new tab from], for some reason... Too many add-ons? Hmmm...:hmm:
