Firefox 3 final officially out if you can find it

Well, spreadfirefox.com and getfirefox.com are both timing out, and mozilla.org has borked itself to the point of a "service unavailable" error.

The fuckers are virtually owned by Google, you'd think they'd lend them a couple of servers or something :p

Took a couple of minutes of waiting, and here it is! No discernable difference from the release candidate! Though wasn't expecting anything else.

Will wait till tomorrow to start looking for the plugins I've been using at work - just too much demand tonight.

I've gotta say, it took about 30 seconds to download the OSX version just now.

E2A: Although on install, turns out it's still the RC.

S'funny - it told me that the tab preferences plug-in wasn't compatible (which I knew already), but it still seems to be working anyway.

Ok, so KE's link appears to be the full 3 for OSX. And it's no different, although I quite like the integrated looking default skin.

And yeah, it's quick. And I don't normally give a toss about that sort of thing.

Yep but the add on pages seem to be struggling, millions of people have probably all just d/led FF3 and have all gone in search of add ons at the same time...!

took about 30 minutes for me. just installed. most plugins are broke. horrible default theme, already running at 100mb of memory only started it up 10 mins ago.

Using it now, looks a bit more silvery instead of grey, but not noticed too much other difference yet.

Yeah, me too. Mind, I've had IE7 running in parallel - same tabs, same sites etc - and that's running at nearly 150. I don't mind it taking 100MB of memory, as long as it only takes that. It was when FF2 started getting up to 200 that I'd get pissed off.

When I just closed FF2 to load FF3 it was taking 326MB, but that was for half a dozen windows and about 30 tabs.

We'll have to see if this is any different.

I'm dl-ing now. I take it this is considerably different to RC3 then? It's taking ages to dl for me, estimating 6 minutes (using k_e's link). Ho-hum.

e2a: finished dl-ing. Looks the same as RC3 to me, so there's nothing that looks odd or confusing. It opened quicker than RC3 did earlier this morning, and loaded my 5 tabs straight away. I'm sure there's not much difference between RC3 and 3 proper though.

Looks a bit funny if you ask me, I liked the simple no-fucking-around look it had before, although I suppose the bloated look is what gives it the user-friendliness for the average joe.

What's the bloated look? I'm used to it looking like this because I've been running the beta versions and the RCs for the past few months, so everything looks normal to me.

Well I think its on Mac mainly, all dark grey gradients all over the place and before it was a nice light grey with basic icons. Back/Forward icons seem a bit ridiculous.

Still looks good on XP. Vista version is pretty mucky.

I do agree about the Javascript though, animations are much smoother.

Downloaded it earlier, noticeable difference from the latest patch from the last release to this new version. I didn't use the beta versions so i can definitely see an improvement in speed. I also like the slight graphical differences, not over the top but subtle.
