Apparently IE has lost something like 11% of it's market share, and there's only 15 or so % between it and FF. Crazy to think how fast FF has brought IE to it's knees...
It's certainly not good news for IE - but I'm not sure I can see how it shows a 10% drop overall. In March, roughly speaking, IE7 was on 40% and IE6 was on 20%. Since then, IE7 has dropped about 10% - but IE8 has gone from a negligible share, to 10%. Which is exactly what you'd expect - all those on IE7 have upgraded to IE8. IE's total share seems to be roughly the same, although it is in longer term decline.
The depressing thing for me there is IE6. It's holding pretty much flat at about 20%. That's too many to realistically ignore for most clients we build for, and it means we're stuck supporting a heap of shit browser for the forseeable future.
Nice feature. When I get myself into a similar mess, I often find myself playing 'smack the tab' to try and close the troublesome page before it manages to reload.
I've actually had loads of issues with it. The thing hangs, crashes and take an age to boot. I'm back to using chrome, which is simple but works. I hope some bugfixs come along.
