I even watched a couple of episodes they made after the chop which hadn't had any special effects done yet.

WHOA WHOA WHOA! There are episodes I've not seen! Remain calm. Finalstryke, where. did. you. find these unscreened episodes. I must have them.

They might be included in the box set (episodes 14/15?) with the special effects added later?

They deffo were not aired on TV first time around though.

1. "The Train Job"
2. "Bushwhacked"
3. "Our Mrs. Reynolds"
4. "Jaynestown"
5. "Out of Gas"
6. "Shindig"
7. "Safe"
8. "Ariel"
9. "War Stories"
10. "Objects in Space"
11. "Serenity"
12. "Trash" (Unaired in the U.S.)
13. "The Message" (Unaired in the U.S.)
14. "Heart of Gold" (Unaired in the U.S.)

Just watched the first two. Enjoying it so far. I treat it as entertainment - anyone looking for plausibility can go polish their di-lithium crystals.

unrelated but someone above was really harsh about Lexx - it's a shame it got so jokey as time went by but 1.1 I Worship His Shadow was ace - who wouldn't want an alarm clock that was a talking aciiiiiiid smiley face?

The space western is interesting, but I don't think the universe that Whedon created is remotely consistent internally (anti-grav trains and cattle?) and TBH while I started to enjoy some of the later eps I can see why it was canned when it was - whichever network stumped up the money in the frst place was fucking brave; if I'd seen that pilot I'd have said never in a 000 years will that get to air...

anyone know where i can download individual episodes? all the torrent sites have is the complete season which is too big for me.

If you use a modern BT client such as Azureus then you will be able to select individual files...

The feature lenght pilot was actually rejected and instead the the TV station started showing the series with episode two, confusing audiences from the outset. While I thought the series was patchy, the pilot was actually pretty good IMO.

I hate to bump old threads but...

Just watched Serenity again, what a complete corker of a film, just love the dialogue in it.

Mal: Do you want to run this ship?
Jane: Hell yeah!
Mal: Well......errr...you can't

Damn shame no more Firefly :(

I heard it got better past about episode six, but I'd gotten bored with it by then, so I expect I'll never find out.

Oh man, I liked Serenity and have the Firefly series on DVD but haven't been able to watch more than half the first episode. Just found it really boring....

It's a builder, really worth a bit of your time, especially if you liked Serenity. Although, you may be a little confused as to why some characters are around...

It potentially could have been one of the greats.

There needed to be a slightly more darker feel to it. Perhaps throw in a tad more of the Blake 7 style politics with say them doing some drug smuggling and stuff and you could have had a classic.

This show!!

I never 'thanked' the folks here for bigging up Firefly and Serenity so much! I gave it a go last year on your recommendations.

It was utter bollocks!! Utter pestillential bollocks! My faith in y'all for recommending shows took a real kicking. :D

I saw Serenity first and kept waiting for summat to happen. Summat seldom did. River was the only thing worth watching and that scene lasted all of a 5 mins. In the extras, Joss Whedon was so smug and self righteous over the cancellation of Firefly.... How he heartbroken he'd been but he felt vindicated!

So I decided to try Firefly because surely Serenity had to have been been an abberation. People were passionate about Firefly! It had to be good!

Actually no. No it didnt! Shit sets, too many poorly drawn cliche characters.
Mal was the worst- he was shit and hollow and the show fell on his shoulders. The actor was woeful.

Ive never seen a show with a larger distance between the hype and the reality. Big empty shell of a show. All IMO (of course!)

Seen the whole lot from "various sources". Great! Sci-fi for grown ups. Proper stuff like character, plot and dialogue. Occasional special effect but that wasn't the point, was it?

I chiefly blame you RD! :D I usually dig your recommendations!

You were unstinting in your praise for this! And if the Big Dawg rates it, the show must be hella good?!

And to think you were lukewarm about Heroes! *tuts!*

Lexx is icky, sexy, fairly amoral and funny.

Firefly was crap

Look at his square jaw! a mixture of smug hardmannishness as bumbkin hayseed. So punchable

I have to say I often like your tastes too, so was surprised you loathed FF so much.

Hey 'lukewarm' about Heroes? :confused:I absolutely LOVE the programme! You must be thinking of someone else!!

I'm always there downloading it the second a new episode comes out, and I was gutted when it got cut short cos of the writers strike!

Lexx was mildy amusing, but was a bit too trying-to-be-wacky for its own good IMO.

And Mal Reynolds is cool. The nearest thing to Han Solo without actually being him.

Ah! I apologise unreservedly! :) Must have been another respected poster who surprised me by saying Heroes was mediocre. :o:D

However, Mal Reynolds is not the nearest thing to Han Solo! Mal has seen Star Wars and WANTS to be Han!

Any number of his crew could and should have kicked his arse and taken over his ship. I never believed he would inspire any loyalty, never believed his guerilla fighting back story.

One thing I forgot to mention - Chiwetel Ejiofor was very unnerving as the assassin guy. He was good.
