Fire on Brixton road

Looks to be a pretty heavy fire going on in central Brixton in the building with Reds Record Shop on the corner. My flat is in the building next door and for one awful moment I thought it was ours. Looks to be getting worse too, smoke everywhere! Hope no one was hurt.
 
Ooh, bugger. I've got some friends arriving for their first trip to london any moment now. Nice welcome for them..

Um, might it spread to your building? :(
 
And according to the other thread on this, the tube station is shut. That's gonna confuse them...
 
Smelt the smoke, thought it was my neighbours burning their regular toxic bonfire. My street is filled with smoke as I type.

God I hope people are safe.
 
Oh this is not fun.

My mother used to set fire to the house on a semi-regular basis. The smell and the smoke causing memories to push through.

Feeling a bit shaky...
 
Just got in. There is a 200m exclusion zone because of a risk of a gas explosion - so no buses or tube. It appears to be the block of flats immediately next to Morleys, they look to me to be gutted (from what you can see when the wind shifts the smoke). The roof is almost gone.

It's a biggie alright

Oh jesuswept.

Please no one was hurt... Their poor Saturday, their weekend, their normal lives :(
 
And another (from a few minutes ago). It seems to be getting under control now.

Oh, sorry to hear it. Have you got any Vicks? Can you put some cold decongestant stick up your nose? Or something else that will block the smell like lip balm with a tiny drop of essential oil just outside your nostrils?

gf and little boy just came in. He's going 'ne nar ne nar digger digger ne nar ne nar' right now...!
