Yes it is. And only amateurs use digital. Only a crass amateur would check the histogram to see if the exposure is correct or to see if anything else needs changing. REAL photographers just know by looking and feeling the light. Real photographers use film. In fact, only amateurs have to look through the viewfinder. REAL photographers just know when the composition and lighting is perfect, without even having to look. They just turn the focus ring while casually looking at something else, and set the exposure without looking at the light meter, then take the shot. Perfect. The result is beautiful every time.
I try that approach but it can be a bit hit and miss. Also I have never seen a professional press photographer with a filter or even care about scratching his lens or superficially damaging the camera. I have seen them using a lens hood
