Films you think are great that everyone thinks are shit

What did people think of Walk the Line - yer cheesy 'bio-pic' love story not normally up my alley, but I love it

I liked it - thought Joaquin did a good job on Johnny

Yeah, Exorcist Three is brilliant, really spooky. Brad Dourif and George whatshisname  I think the Legion one was Exorcist Two, which is widely reputed to be dogshit, although I don't think I've seen it myself.

Legion was the production title of Exorcist III and the title of the novel it was based on. The book was a very loosely connected sequel based on some minor characters from the The Exorcist (more the novel than the film). When director/writer Willima Peter Blatty had finished his cut, the studio decided to call the film Exorcist III, reshoot part of it and shove an exorcism sub-plot into a film that had nothing to do with exorcists. It's a bit of a shame as it diminishes the second half of what was supposed to be a supernatural police procedural. There had been plans of a directors cut DVD, but that got shelved after the The Exorcist: The Beginning flopped.

The Exorcist II: The Heretic is a completely loopy, ill-conceived film, but taken on its own its rather interesting with occasional flashes of brilliance.

That's interesting, cheers - I always wondered why all the menace and philosophical questions of the first half ended up in skin-ripping cheese by the end. It's still a great film though, very well shot - that sequence with the long shot down the corridor when the nurse is investigating a noise and the big white ghosty sheet thing follows her out always make me jump, even though I know it's coming. And I love the old lady on the ceiling, fly style :D

Cube - I've lost count of the amount of times I've recommended that film to have people come back to me saying how shit it was.

cube is terrible!!!

(most people i come across say it's amazing:confused: )

On Exorcist II - is a good film! ...then again, i've not seen it since i was a child.

Let's face it - alot of the acting is shite. But damn I love that film :)

Inane trivia - the female lead in the dreadful Cube sequel "Hypercube" played Jack Thursby's wife in Natali's later film "Cypher".

The first Rocky movie.
i thought that was ackonwledged as a classic! my friend made me sit through 5 rocky films chronologically in one day once, now that was in more questionable taste.

oh come on...love it or hate it, you have to admit 'showgirls' was entertaining! who can forget the pool sex scene? or all them bitch fights?

what was the cube about? a few people stuck in a giant box....sleepy stuff indeed.

Or the inclusion of a needlessly vicious gang rape committed upon the sole 'nice' character.

Showgirls is entertaining, in a bizarre where-did-this-come-from sort of way, but I always come away from it feeling slightly stained because of that part.

Turkish Star Wars.

God, I fucking love this film. It's so shit that it's amazing. But it makes most peoples' skin crawl.

Fully agree with you there, I cannot tell you how fucking unpleasant I find that movie. Its shit anyway, but that rape scene- makes me feel so degraded and sick.

was there a pool sex scene?
you know, i don't even remember if i've seen showgirls or not.
it is that bad i reckon.

Hackers

Great film, completely nonsense storyline that doesn't take itself too seriously, and a killer soundtrack of mid-nineties dance.

Oh and Angelina Jolie in her late teens looking very fit. What more can I say ;)

I haven't seen Rocky Balboa, and probably won't as I suspect it might lessen my enjoyment of the previous uns :o

Which is - admittedly - probably a hangover from the ROUSING MUSIC and being a teen :D

*ADRIEENNNE!!! ADRIENNNEEEE!!!!*

Man, that's funny film, the guy playing his son (Milo Ventimiglia) has the same slightly skew-wif mouth) Adrian is dead now :( ('woman cancer'), though I swear I saw a cameo of her in the Brooklyn bar near the end, wearing a blonde wig. Naww go see it, it's better than Rocky 4...

I liked Red Sonja - even saw it at the cinema - had a bit of a crush on young Bridget though...

Do most people hate this one? I liked it a lot, especially the question and answer session with the audience where he tells them the truth.

Verhoven seems to have a thing about rape. In Spetters, it's the nice male lead character who undergoes the gang rape.

He is so odd, skin crawlingly so. I remember last year a comment on here referring to him as something akin to an auteur. I just kept tinking about the rape scene.

Even Starshihp troopers has a scene near the end where the Alien Insect Queen which is shaped like a quivering vulva, gets battered and stabbed.

Is he married? Brrr.
