Films with scenes in psychiatric hospitals

Lecter is serving nine consecutive life sentences in a Maryland mental institution for his murders.

nicked from wiki. don't know the name of the place but would have to do a little more searching but it says it is.

Fair enough - it's hair-splitting anyway, the difference between psychiatric "hospitals" and psychiatric "institutions". I was going to say the place Lecter's in doesn't look much like a hospital, but psychiatric institutions don't.

In that case does "But Im a Cheerleader" count?

Mostly takes place inside a psychiatric institution or gender/sexuality rehabilitation centre.

yes i'm not sure of the distinction though?
hospital would refer to treatment where as institution would mean lock someone away to be forgotten about? if anything the on in the film looked more like a prison. but in saying that a doctor was a head of the facility and then there was that nurse called barney. not sure though.

Me neither. There's a distinction between ordinary wards and secure units, for instance, and there must presumably be a third category (say Broadmoor?) for people who are serious convicted criminals but are not considered sane.

Cheers soj - had never heard of this before you mentioned it on the DVD thread, but it looks wicked so I have just added it to my rental list :)
