I enjoyed all of these:

Me and You and Everyone We Know

At last, from the responses on some previous thread I thought I was the only one who'd seen it! :( Definetely my favorite, although I haven't seen King Kong yet...

Sideways is pretty good too.

I've just realised how many films I DIDN'T see in 2005...

*Loved* Sideways. That's my film of the year.

Crash was nothing to write home about and A History of Violence was one of the worst films I have ever seen.

Edit: Narnia made my year actually.

Some of you are far too critical. If the aviator came out this year then it is up there, along with
me,you and everyone we know
history of violence
crash
constant gardener (almost forgot)
batman begins
maria full of grace
sideways
charlie and the chocolate factory
closer
oldboy
enduring love (it did resonate with me, I felt as though I could just hold jed - played by rhys ifans and tell him it would all be ok)

best of the rest

narnia
revenge of the sith (puff and be merry)
king kong

please go and watch chronicles of riddick or dungeons and dragons, and come back and define worse. The latter I have not seen, but a good friend of mine warned me off it.

Of the very few I saw, I'd say A History of Violence, but with a mention for Broken Flowers (as no one has yet).

I also really enjoyed the two leads in The Constant Gardner (Feinnes and Weisz), but not the direction.

The Descent was good knockabout fun

I thought Sin City and King Kong were good for mainstream entertainment, didn't think too much of Batman Begins.

Crash was dreadful, and History of Violence was intriguing but nothing more.

Life Aquatic and Closer were my favourites, and they were at the very beginning of the year, so it feels like cinema's having a bit of a drought at the mo.

Looking forward to this new Woody Allen film though.

Oh yeah, and Charlie and the Chocolate factory was a laugh.

Life Aquatic, Downfall, History of Violence & Old Boy ( saw it on dvd - not sure if it was a 2005 release - but it was fucking superb)
Oh, and The Sea Inside - lovely.

from good to crap

the aviator
2046
last days

batailla in cielo
broken flowers
notre musique
my summer of love

sin city
constant gardener
crash

the life aquatic

Just watched this. Not too bad. Some good points, namely that it's amazingly true to the book, the kids were pretty good by the standards of child actors, and it looked great. The downside was the bloody cockney accents of the beavers.

Oh, that reminds me, another plus point was the refreshing change of having baddies with american accents.

Another mention for The Edukators though.

I finally got 'round to watching that last night, and it was much better than I'd expected.

So I'll add that one to my earlier list, if I may. :)

Went by the list to see what counts as this year, and I've really enjoyed;
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Saw 2
Sin City
Spongebob Squarepants The Movie
Team America

I really enjoyed The 40 Year Old Virgin

But then I've only seen about three films this year.
I think I laughed three times in the whole film, Wedding Crashes was much better, but that did have some mute points.

I'd say either 'Me and You and everyone we know' or 'Breakfast on Pluto'.

Has the latter came out in the UK yet?

Best:

Gypo
Rize
Murderball
Dig!
Enron: The Smartest Guys In The Room
Brothers
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Batman Begins
Sideways
Me, You and everyone we know
A History of Violence
Hotel Rwanda
King's Game

Worst:

Sin City
Noel
Episode III
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The

Gegen die Wand (Head On) was not only the best film of the year for me, but also one of the best of the last five years. Der Untergang, The Educators, the Machinist, Sideways,Old Boy,The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, A History of Violence and My Summer of Love complete my list.
