Films about memory loss - preferably comedies

Oh, I remember hearing about him. Thank you

It sounds familiar. Has it be on TV before?

Anyway, that's mainly long-term memory loss by the looks of it, not short-term

Yeah I think it has been on a couple of times, film four and channel four maybe. Really interesting even if it's not the kind of film you were looking for it's got some good stuff about memory loss in it so it's worth watching.

Will look into it. Ta

Clean Slate starring Dana Carvey (Garth from Wayne's World). It's about a private eye with short term memory loss which he has to hide as he is a key witness in an upcoming trial, though he has no memory of events. He also has a one eyed dog with no depth perception. I though it was pretty funny when I was 16.

Don't know if that's much of an endorsement though cause I also thought the guy I saw the movie with was great. :(

Nice try though ;)

My suggestion - Total Recall
That's just what i was gonna suggest.

Also, Bladerunner because its very much exploring how memories (and emotions) are complicated things that define us to some degree. And the latest release is fab

Paycheck - rather cheesy sub-Minority Report film with Ben affleck Indeed I believe it was based on the same PKDick film as MR. But is ten times worse. Still, I found it quite watchable as dreck goes.

Etnernal Sunshine isn't deep and depressing! It's also not really about short term memory loss, but it's a very good film nevertheless.

Oh God no, that's got Madonna in it hasn't it?

Not a bad little film and one of a couple where Madonna was fine because she more or less played herself. Haven't seen it in a while, it should be a bit of a period piece by now.

Anyway, one of the few films that fits your brief (memory loss & comedy), so stop complaining. :D

Yeah, I think I quite enjoyed it too :)

The Long Kiss Goodnight is OK for a laugh - Gena Davies forgets that she's a kick-ass spy and starts wearing Laura Ashley dresses.

Really cool thing in this otherwise mediocre movie -

[very minor spoiler warning]

Samuel L Jackson's character uses improvised blues lyrics to assist his own poor short-term memory. 'Got my keys in my back pocket - da duh deh duh, and my change in my right - da duh deh duh' - that sort of thing.
Later on he finds him self well out of his depth following Geena Davis around -
'Got a gun in my left hand, two clips in the bag - da duh deh duh', etc.

- I've paraphrased cos I saw this film yonks ago. ;)
