Film: Scenes That Make You Go 'Urgh!'

Pans Labyrnyth where he smashes the guys nose with a bottle.

only scene thats given me a bad dream. something really resonated with it

The big wooden splinter through the woman's eye scene in Zombie Flesh Eaters freaked me out when I was younger – saw it again a couple of years ago, though, and it didn't phase me.

The nastiest thing I've seen recently was in Hostel 2 – the scene where one of the girls is suspended naked over the woman with the scythe and she just starts slashing great big lumps out of her so she can bathe in the blood. Even though it's gratuitously nasty and leaves nothing to the imagination, I still found it genuinely disturbing.

The final scenes in Last Exit to Brooklyn - depressing with the men at the bar and the old men and the boy in the morning. Awful awful grimness.
Wolf Creek - pretty much everything from when they get abducted
Afraid of the Dark - blind woman posed for photographs in a slip and then handed a barbers razor and it slips through her nearly clasped hands

The scene in Marathon Man where Laurence Olivier drills on Dustin Hoffman's teeth sans anesthetic is the reason I always come away from the dentist drooling like some idiot due to the extra requested novicaine.

The scene in Casino where Joe Pesci puts some blokes head in a vice and then closes it forcing out one of his eyeballs, also in the same filum when DeNiro smashes some-ones hand with a hammer

This was the first one that sprang to mind for me too.

stretching the 'film' category, but a news clip i saw on the internet which showed two climbers tumbling down the side of a mountain, their limbs getting looser and looser as their bones break, until they were just a lifeless ball of lumpy goretex

This thread sums up the reason why I haven't seen a film with anything above a '15' rating for 20 odd years. :o

*Shudders*

will always be the scariest thing in a film.

Went through my DVDs for this :)

HAL. How fucking scary is a HAL 9000 ?
Deliverance. Ned Beatty bum rape. Not as bad as Scum.
Freaks. Pretty much the whole thing.
Goodfellas. "How fucking funny ?" ;)
Hannibal. The bit where he feeds the guy his own brain.
Last King of Scotland. Some of that is well rough.
Natural Born Killers. Rodney Dangerfield is really vile in that.
Trainspotting. The dead baby.

Last 10 minutes of "Salo", esp the eye-pokey bit
The Latrine Incident in Slumdog Millionaire
Large stretches of Gregg Araki's "The Doom Generation"
The 'video message from Hell' sequences from Event Horizon
Practically the whole damn thing of Todd Browning's "Freaks" (1932)

Pretty much all of the 'torture porn' type stuff would qualify for me (Saw, Hostel, Texas Chainsaw etc etc etc) which is why I steer well clear.

snap!

Sequences from hell from Event Horizon.

Only time I ever had to look away from then screen at the cinema. Watched a re-edit of it recently and of course had to watch the same sequences in slow motion, still gruesome.

For some reason, I don't mind having injections, but seeing someone else have one

The bit in Alien 3 where Charles Dance gives her this injection with this really thick blunt needle just made me totally wince

the bit in Bourne where a guy he is fighting against pulls a knife/needs out of the top of his hand

Last King Of Scotland, where the woman's arms and legs
have been cut off and stitched back in the wrong place...*heaves*.

Wolf Creek - pretty much everything from when they get abducted

This is exactly what i was going to post *shudder*

I know it's a lame film too, but the scene in Unbreakable where the man breaks into that family's home and tortures and kills them all stayed with me for a long time

Great thread!

The bit in Texas Chain Saw Massacre (notice the right spelling, film nerds) where Leatherface hangs the girl on the meat hook.

You see it from the front and just see her expression and body shape change when the hook goes on - horrific.

Funnily enough in the remake you saw all the gore, hook into flesh and thru her ribcage, and it was so much less Urgh, imagination is a powerful thing.

That is rather nasty that bit isnt it. Testament to how bloody good the film is though really.

Oh - the bit in Saving Private Ryan when the German goes 'Ssssssh ssssssh' as he's bayonetting the bloke to death :voms:
