Film recommendations

The Italian Job was also awesome, of course. As was The Shining.

Deliverance and The French Connection were good suggestions, because we both liked those.

Amazon recommended me Hopscotch, based on looking those things up. I'm assuming that's also good?

I think Deliverance is very much of its time. I was distinctly uderwhelmed. Even the bumrape scene failed to raise an eyebrow (pulp fictions was much harsher)

oooh Scum

One thing you notice about looking up a lot of these films is that they are of a sensible length. A lot of them fit into the sub-100 minute mark, rather than being bloated, turgid affairs that spend hours on special effects or Meaningful Looks. They're understated, in short. It really was the golden era.

Ah yes -- the disaster movies are great. Of course there is Towering Inferno and Poseidon Adventure. But what else should we see?

What year's was The Cassandra Crossing?

There was another one like Poseidon or Titanic. Maybe something Pacific?

Earthquake
The Andromeda Strain
Airport 197? and Airport 197? :D
The one with the damn bursting?
The ones with swarms of bees
Meteor

How about a Neil Simon film like California Suite (trying to think of something more Woody Allen..) Waltar Matthau, Maggie Smith, Jane Fonda, Michael Caine, Richard Pryor, Bill Cosby..
