Film Of The Year

I voted for it.

I thought it was class.

I thought it was OK, it was a nice idea that wasn't executed that well. The set-up took far too long - the characters were too banal to need THAT much backstory :D

Yeah I really didn't care about the characters, that love story was totally unconvincing. They were just underdeveloped despite taking ages to develop them iyswim.

But the worst bit was when it turned out the thing that was causing all the trouble was some big weird monster dinasour with loads of baby dinasours. It stopped being scary after that.

Oh and they added some kind of zombie element into it aswell when that girl got bitten or scratched or whatever.

Stupid.

I need to watch there will be blood properly; I only watched it on quite a shoddy pirate in china and the last 20 minutes it fucked up.

the final scene is one of the most inspired and unexpected and crazy I've ever seen, and it actually reminded me of Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder in the Producers - that kind of manic hysteria and absurdity.

Jesse James was november 2007, otherwise it would have made my top 5 easy

oh, and i think I saw you at Bond St tube today

Nah, not me man - I have been workin out west today, but in the filthy district line direction... Must've been some other jaded, pissed off, present laden humbug..

Good poll. But I think Batman out of those top 5 would be my number one. I think Day Lewis hammed it up just a wee bit too much in There will be blood. Heath Ledger was just perfect. That little licking, snake like thing. Filth.

Can't remember, but it serves to show that I did include everything :D

(apart from two of Mighty Aphrodites cos they're not out here yet, sorry :( )

Its ok jefe , ive seen them and am 100% SURE they will be in urbans top 10 next year :D

my other nom. is in the top 10 so its all good.

Can't believe people voted for There Will Be Blood. I thought it was dreary. I walked out because of boredom.

I watched it on Special Offers on telly the other week cos it was going for a penny. I didn't even realise it was released this year! Did like it though, lots. Absolutely loved the preacher

I voted for it.

I thought it was class.

really ?

oh dear, that film was one of the most over hyped films this year, that when my mate (haha, unlucky mate) bought it and we watched it, we took it stright back and he got his money back.

Pure unadulterated up it's own arse toss

No Waltz With Bashir? Maybe it came too late.

It was definitely one of my films of the year, along with No Country For Old Men.

I didn't vote, but I can't argue with the top 2. Especially There Will Be Blood. I absolutely loved that film, one of the best things I've ever got to see at the cinema.

I'd have been torn between Dark Knight and NCFOM - I was underwhelmed by DK at the cinema, but having recently bought it on Bluray, and being able to really savour HLs performance it's tops!

Was Renaissance out this year or 2007? Aces film, and anyone who's seen Waltz With Bashir will like it...

Yay! It's more fun with a poll.

I wasn't having a go - just a poor attempt at a wind up. :D

I'm ill and bored. :(

On a more positive note. My two favourite films of 2008 neither of which even got a look in were

1. My Winnipeg - Canadian comedic psychogeography documentary
2. I've Loved You for a Long Time - French psychological thriller ensemble movie.

It was voted here>

29 I've Loved You So Long

Well i voted for it somewhere in my top five. Quite why it is way down the list compared with 'Sex & the city' i've no idea, who voted for that?

Also, I would have voted Batman Returns because it's the only film I cared about enough to go and see at the cinema and the only one of them i've seen apart from Iron Man which was toss and Cloverfield which I thought was last year. So in the spirit of not liking one vote nominations in my poll, I didn't vote.

What I will do now is use this collection as a guide to my future downloading.

I'm surprised more people haven't seen Persepolis. Other than that the list is predictable, but that's no bad thing. I can't remember what I voted now, but think the list pretty well reflects my opinions.
