Figs

Yay :D

I had some in a restaurant and they also had a sweet-ish, clear sauce over them which made it gooooooorgeous. No idea what it was though.

I've just realised/remembered that we have a fig tree in our garden just dripping with fruit. I've never eaten one :o

might investigate some recipes etc tomorrow when I'm studying/procrastinating

Are they still ok?
see - that's what ripe figs are suppose to look like, ime. i was a bit worried about the green one from before.

They look beautiful, Maggot. Eat them all up. I'm very jealous.

I've never had a fresh fig, but I hear goat cheese and prosciutto are good with them, and a drizzle of honey. *jealous*

The fig tree in my garden is producing lots of lovely ripe figs. What can I do with them?
I don't like figs meself but you could probably make fig jam or something like below:

Never used to ripen in UK. Hence the idea that they 'aren't sweet'.

A ripe mission is too sweet imo.

I think the not giving a fig thing is because the plants are so common in some places.

I'm sure there must be a reason why people don't make booze out of them.

They are lovely: softer and sweeeter than the green ones.

I was about to start a thread in praise of figs, but I decided to revive this one.

I think I have a fresh fig addiction. And I've been reading lots about figs and mythology.

Yum yum yum figs figs figs!

I am considering asking a friend to design a tattoo for me incorporating the image of a fig.

Mmmmmm fresh figs are totally yum :)

(rating second only to the yellow mangos from Pakistan which I can eat a whole boxful of five in one go - how greedy is that :D)

we're doing a dish at the pub at the moment with figs, or rather a fig, roasted for about 5-10 mins with some gorgonzola and parma ham.

it's bloody lovely and pretty easy to do at home...
