Fighting Wasps

What should I do about the wasps?

Have to be careful of wasps at the moment, my adrenaline syringes have dried out, there's nothing left as I have had them for so long. Keep remiinding myself to get some more but I keep forgetting.

are they still there? i thought the war would be over by now...
Unfortunately its turned into a war of attrition. the Gas Grenade I made (taping down the top of a wasp/fly spray can) and lobbed next to the nest seems to have done well and killed loads but theres still some left.

Soooo I'm out the house till next monday then next week am thinking about throwing a couple more grenades in. Failing that I'll suit up buy a gas mask - throw some more gas grenades in then get to the nest with a stick (its just out of reach)

See - superior tactics ;)

Fuck all this hippy stuff about not killing insects.

Wasps & Hornets are not only a pain in the ass but they can ATTACK YOU with their viscious, evil buzzing and stings. And they don't even make honey.

Having said that, I'm re-reading 'The Skinner' by Neal Asher where in the future it's discovered that along with humans, Hornets are also a sentient species, existing as a giant hive mind...

nice, so you poured a paraffin more or less into a river

No, you have no idea so keep your fucking

so I just live with a nest of wasps outside my door right.

Canal dear, not river with concrete piles so no, none would have got into the water, also used abot 50mls.

Recycle everything do you? grow your own veg? use ecover products, fair trade? buy organically?

Off your high horse love.

If you can spray an insecticide into the nest at night you're likely to kill them all without getting stung, they all go into the nests at dusk.

that was pretty uncalled for. thanks for challenging my right to question any action you may ever have taken. pouring paraffin out right next to a waterway is a very bad thing to do. I'm quite sure I've done things that are just as bad, feel free to highlight this. Maybe you should park your boat somewhere different next time.

We were on a mooring, where you moor a boat.

You have every right to challenge my actions, just as I have every right to defend mine.

 careful, your chain might come off.

You are right that you are entitled to defend your actions, but the fact that instead of doing so you threw a hissy fit leads me to suspect that your defence is not a strong one.

If you read the original reply to your post you will see that there were concrete pilings between the bank and the canal (not river, very different).

Concrete piles are usually around 6 inches thick and cannot let 50ml (amount in an average perfume bottle) of paraffin through.

Pouring paraffin into a river is a very silly thing to do but as I pointed out before I poured paraffin into a wasps nest (with 6 inches of concrete between it and the canal) not into a river.

Here is what piling looks like :)

I've learned that you are unable to react maturely to critisism; so have you. So yes, ditto.

Again, don't bother with an argument about moral consistency, because I'd be the first to point out that no-one is known to practice it.

That is a bloody good point but engaging in informed, mature debate in my book doesn't include misquoting. I'd appreciate if you changed your post where you misquoted me.

I'm not aware of having done this, if I have I apologise and promise to amend the post in question. You'll have to show me where it is though.

square brackets indicate content added by the quoter. This is quite well established. I agree that what I added was incorrect, but it wasn't a misquote, nor was it misleading.
