Fight/Riot songs

'Vengeance', 'The Hunt', 'Here Comes the War' by New Model Army.

'Do they owe us a living?' Crass

RATM - 'Township Rebellion'
I like to shout 'WHY STAND ON A SILENT PLATFORM! FIGHT THE WAR! AND FUCK THE NORM!!' when I'm feeling a bit cartoon studenty.

'Sometimes' Midnight Oil

'West End Riot' 'Killing the Right'. The Living End.

'Staring at the Rude Boys' The Ruts.

I would say that 'Hiphopper' by Thomas Rusiak might be the clearest invitation to a punch in the face I've ever seen.

Mostly, I'm a redbush tea and slippers man though. ;)

I've got a little sequence I do when I'm seriously pissed off. Just a few songs that I can really burn off some anger by singing.

Hey Lord, Don't Ask Me Questions (G.Parker), Feel Like I'm Fixing To Die Rag (J.McDonald), Sometimes Good Guys Don't Wear White (E.Cobb), American Pie (D.McLean), Don't You (E.True and myself), Soul Boy (C.Coughlan), and Maggie McGill (The Doors). Those surprised at the inclusion of the first and fourth need to understand that I have a tendency to alter the style of songs somewhat. So the first is a kind of punk-ska rather than the original white boy reggae, and it's the under 4 minute high speed punk-metal version of American Pie.

By the end of it I'm usually moderately calm even if I'd previously been dealing with the DWP.

Many of the suggestions elsethread get me going to. Of course to see me really killing angry you'd need to play some Celine Dion at me and then present me with the person who first told her she could sing, and ideally some form of automatic weapon.

At base level The Sex Pistols - Anarchy In The U.K., The Clash - White Riot or Crass - I Ain't Thick, It's Just A Trick.

Riot - The Dead Kennedys

"tomorrow you're homeless, tonight it's a blast"

one of their best tunes

"Riot"

Rioting-the unbeatable high
Adrenalin shoots your nerves to the sky
Everyone knows this town is gonna blow
And it's all gonna blow right now:.

Now you can smash all the windows that you want
All you really need are some friends and a rock
Throwing a brick never felt so damn good
Smash more glass
Scream with a laugh
And wallow with the crowds
Watch them kicking peoples' ass

But you get to the place
Where the real slavedrivers live
It's walled off by the riot squad
Aiming guns right at your head
So you turn right around
And play right into their hands
And set your own neighbourhood
Burning to the ground instead

[Chorus]
Riot-the unbeatable high
Riot-shoots your nerves to the sky
Riot-playing into their hands
Tomorrow you're homeless
Tonight it's a blast

Get your kicks in quick
They're callin' the national guard
Now could be your only chance
To torch a police car

Climb the roof, kick the siren in
And jump and yelp for joy
Quickly-dive back in the crowd
Slip away, now don't get caught

Let's loot the spiffy hi-fi store
Grab as much as you can hold
Pray your full arms don't fall off
Here comes the owner with a gun

[Chorus]

The barricades spring up from nowhere
Cops in helmets line the lines
Shotguns prod into your bellies
The trigger fingers want an excuse
Now

The raging mob has lost its nerve
There's more of us but who goes first
No one dares to cross the line
The cops know that they've won

It's all over but not quite
The pigs have just begun to fight
They club your heads, kick your teeth
Police can riot all that they please

[Chorus]

Tomorrow you're homeless
Tonight it's a blast

cheesy bellends.

:D Yeah.

Its all a bit cheesy though innit? Me and my mate used to make comps like this and try and sneak on the tape player on the bus to london demos. Dumb as.

anyway, 80s US h/c and/or hard psycho is better "mood music"...but anyway enough rioting. Howsabout a song which literally kicked off a revolution?

Fun fact: I lived in the same communist squat that was Afonso's safehouse pre-revolution.
