'fight for our homes' .. anti-pathfinder web site

durruti02

love and rage!
sorry been vaguely looking for this for a while .. Pathfinder is yet another scandel of our times!

Fightforourhomes is a resource for people who oppose the UK Government's "Pathfinder" mass demolition programme. This site is open to anyone. We want to provide a forum for discussion, information and assistance where possible. We will make available as much information as possible on the different Pathfinder Areas, where, when and how. What developments are proposed and in which Local Authority, which neighbourhood and if available the street.

wow, i'd not heard about that programme. how londoncentric of me. good luck to you though...

Yes, I`m interested, but really don`t know too much about it.

Is it a bit like the "D-Notice" villages way back in the 1960s where former pit-villages were razed to the ground as they were considered no longer viable as communities & had sub-standard housing ?

yes i guess so .. they are claiming it is to create sustainable communities .. and to steady house prices in poor areas!!i understand the houses are not generally substandard unlike in the 6ts

tbh i want to know more 2!!! i'm er in london!

What they are doing is absolutely outrageous.

There may sometimes be a case for the state using compulsory purchase powers to make way for something that has to be built in a certain place, like a railway or road.

But this is scheme seems to involve the government, in cahoots with big companies standing by to make a lot of money, forcing people out of their own houses because they are too cheap, knocking them down, and then telling the same people that they now can't afford one of the new places that the developers have built in the same area.

If I owned a house and wanted to stay in it, and "they" just ordered me out, I would lose the plot and people would get hurt. It's just wrong.

Giles..
