Fifth test thread

Yeah, well.....congrats on your victory, England. It might've been so different except for a couple of things.

Overall, what a wonderful series. :)

Until we meet again ;)

:) :D :)

Got home at 4:30 (see post #961) and settled down to watch KP get his 150 :) & Ash his 50 :)

Great win!

(Wanted Freddie to have a go after Harmo but was cool anyway.)

Hope I didn't appear on the telly yesterday, I'm bunking work!

Nothing much to say, just that it was the most fantastic day I've ever had watching any sport anywhere. Sorry to sound like an idiot but I've waited all my cricket watching life for this day and when I left the Oval I was struggling to hold back tears.

I don't give a shit about any world cups in any sport compared to this, this is the ultimate.

What a team, what a captain, what a summer. Fan-fucking-tastic.

The party in the streets around the Oval was huge as well, as we walked out of the ground we were showered with beer and champagne from people stood on their balconies and in windows overlooking the ground. Every passing car was honking its horn, bus passengers grinning like loons on their way past and an awful lot of very drunk, very happy people spilling all over the roads around Kennington.

Fuck me I'm happy. Yes! :D

Edit: writing that almost made me cry again :o :D

Well done the Aussies for their excellent spirit.

Particularly Brett Lee for getting faster and faster and angrier and angrier when it became clear it was all over, bless :D

And to Warney, for being one of the true giants of the game

I thought it was great that when offered the light they asked England what they should do to make the moment as good as possible.

And their congratulations of KP and AG were genuine, it appeared.

Tis a great feeling to end the summer on a win. I actually feel a remarkable and noticiable absence of the usual gumbling gloom that normally follows the ritual ashes drubbing!

In the long term - prospects don't look good for Australia. Warne and McGrath aren't going to be a feature in the next ashes, perhaps neither will Ponting, Hayden and Langer. Who do they have left? Build a team around Tait and Clarke?

agreed without reservations

the banter continues...

was good to see us winning it - thank the lord my boss took us all down the pub to watch the last couple of hours. we had lots of good banter with the aussies in our work, but the best one-liner came from one of them (unfortunately):

at 5.00pm, girl from accounts:
"it seems a bit mean though, making australia play on when they know they've got no chance of winning"

aussie: "england have had to play like that for 18 years, we can handle it for half hour or so"

I think Warne will definately be playing in the next ashes series in oz and McGrath will possibly if still fit.

btw I've decided I'm off to oz for two months in two years to watch the fucker!
