Fiat 500

I don't really know what platform sharing means any more to be honest. A fair bit of commonality I think though.

It's this, and is also used by the Ford Ka: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_Mini_platform

IIRC Fiat and Ford have had a tie-in for years in engine manufacture - Fiat do diesels for Ford and now 3rd party factories in Eastern Europe and other places make models for several makers at the same time, I imagine a fair bit of commonality is inevitable just ot keep the costs down.

What does badman mean  is that bad as in bad or bad as in good  You are making me feel my age :D

Just think opposites, sick, phat, bad, badman = good.

dutty, gully, sickle = bad (although im not sure those words mean anything in the first place).

You can tell I live with a 23 year old dubstep dj who has mates round a lot ;)

The new word they're trying to bring in is 'goss' as in something is worth gossiping about

I think he means it in a 'yo dude, them wheels are badass, they're well naughty mate etc etc' style. Shirl are you an 17 year old badass from Croydon?
No I'm definitely not :hmm:
I like the idea of being Cool Grannie Badass from Yorkshire though :D

I'm loving our new 500. It's a smaller engine than the last one but it's got some kind of turbo thing going on and it's a lot nippier than the old one. :) Not to mention it's badass black alloys :D

In summer I have six weeks with nothing to do. Despite needing a practical car I fancy one of these to drive around Europe.

This one is only the 2.0E but I guess it would do.

This is what you want really. It is the real Fiat 500 Topolino as advertised in my post before the bump.

That is just fabulous. It also looks a bit 2CVish, with a hint of Jaguar about the grill which appeals to my heart's desire

My mum had one just like this in the 60s, I think she loved it almost as much as her kids! I remember her driving us across the Pennines from Manchester to Sheffield in it during a snow storm before the M62 was built. Fantastic little car.

I tried to buy one in the early 80's but coudn't get the finance :( Got my fill now though :)

I suspect Jennifer Lopez might have ruined the Fiat 500's cool factor for good now.

Thats a proper weird advert. Woman drives car, woman is pursued down street by sexually aggresive males, woman is dragged from car by sexually aggresive males via the sunroof.

Thanks, but I think I'll suggest a car with better security to my girlfriend, I don't think gang rape is her thing.

.

I guess the bloke who picks up the dog is there just to watch.

It is a weird advert - or at least one that doesn't translate very well into the northern European brain.

I haven't seen the ad. Luckily my new 500 doesn't have a sun roof. Even if it did, I'm not the type or age to get pursued :)

I adore the fiat 500, I learned to drive in one a couple of years ago, and use one whenever we hire a car from the Hertz car club at the university (unfortunately Hertz's prices are ridiculously high, and we mostly hire from commonwheels now, who have a nice fiesta nearby)

Jesus, what a stupid ad.
I always though Fiat were quite a cool brand :(

To late now though. I'll just have to drive around in mine looking nothing like Jennifer Lopez and see if I can undo some of the damage :D
