Fiat 500

small car pr0n

alfa mito - want!

The Fiat 500 is IMO the most successful and desirable revamp of the old small classics (Mini, Beetle, etc). A very nice little looking car.

There is one notable absence... The 2CV. I would love Citroen to launch a revamped version of this in the not too distant future... so long as the looks are preserved as much as possible :)

They did a styling mock up of a re-working of the DS a couple of years back.

I almost vomited. :D

I'll try and dig out the piccie.

Fiats/Alfas are among the worse.
And their style date real quick (and for the price per servicing, you might as well have bought a BMW).

Quite right, they do depreciate worse than most (well Pacific Basin cars excluded), and they do tend to date quite quickly. Although if they're any good in the first place style-wise then they do get a second lease of life. Look at the Alfa GTV 2000 from the mid-70s to mid '80s or even the original Fiat Ritmo.

But that's not the reason people buy Italian cars, otherwise we'd all be driving around in Audi A4s. ;)

I've had three 2CVs in the past. My all time favorite car and I'd love a revamped one

Well, that 3 years went quickly.

It's time to trade in out Fiat 500 but as we like it so much we are getting another but in a different colour. Wolfie's looking at some today. I went to buy the last one but hated the garage and the salesmen so I'm leaving it to him this time :)

hugely popular cars down my way, it seems every other person is driving one so they must be good.

They are good. I'm a bit worried that has we have trashed ours quite a bit, we may struggle to afford a new one.

Fiats are cool, especially the TwinAir/MultiAir models.

Can't disagree with the depreciation, but no chance on the styling & servicing is pretty cheap if you know where to look (no experience of BMW ownership so you may be able to achieve the same).

I think we are getting TwinAir this time. We get our current one serviced at the local garage so not expensive at all.

I thought the 500 and the panda were pretty the same except the shell, but the 500 is just a couple of grand more.

Nissan figaro anyday if you want a new retro car.

Lord that was a shit car, up there with that PT Cruiser rot. New cars made to look retro are not the way forward by any means. Taking old styles and updating them often look great, but just sticking a old style shell on a new car is cack.

Panda and figaro aren't stylish enough. I have to be seen driving it :)

It's not about retro for me, it's about style

TBH I'm only really interested in civic sports and type r's....... not exactly retro in any shap or form.

Yeah I'm like you, as much as I hate it I do see cars as a fashion thing. Oh the vanity........

I just wish Fiat/FGA would stop producing cool Fiats - yes, this includes the Panda - and build some more Alfas. More than two, anyway.

I think we have just bought one that looks like the one above. It won't show the dirt like our yellow one did :)

No, despite being made in the same Polish factory, only the top model Pandas share any significant components with the 500. The new model Fiat Bravo range has much more in common with the 500.

Pandas are made in Italy again now, in the factory where they used to build the 159 (Pomigliano d’Arco). The Panda and the 500 are the same platform aren't they? The Fiat supermini one.

Ahh - Didn't know that, thanks.

ETA, sorry brain switched-off!

I thought the main engineering for the Bravo and 500 was subcontracted to Magna in Austria and thats where the commonality comes from? These models were aimed squarely at competing with the smaller VW (plus Beetle in the 500's case) and Audi models.

Whilst the Supermini was the Panda and Puntos.

What does badman mean  is that bad as in bad or bad as in good  You are making me feel my age :D

I think he means it in a 'yo dude, them wheels are badass, they're well naughty mate etc etc' style. Shirl are you an 17 year old badass from Croydon?
