It can’t be this difficult to find a charger cable that doesn’t end up looking like something that’s been chewed up by that bloke in that James Bond film with the metal teeth.

Someone somewhere must have invented a solution to this problem.

One of my friends uses SuGru to protect her cables.

    Any other ideas?

What do you do to avoid the problem? What magic cable do you use that doesn’t fucking fray!

My cables don't fray :hmm: :D

Sorry Sheila but who or what is eating/fraying your cables?

Unless you mean coming unstuck at the plug or adapter end from endless pulling/wrapping around itself and putting in a bag?

I use the Halfords range, seem very rugged and you can get them up to 5 meters long

I don’t think I’m being unduly rough with them. I don’t yank them or carry them about in tangled knots.

    The problem is Apple.

I own one Apple product (with accompanying cable) and guess what? It's the only cable that has this problem.

Are you telling me this isn’t a Thing? I thought frayed cables was a Thing. Even a Conspiracy Thing, to get us to repeatedly buy replacements :hmm:

I don’t *think* I’m chewing them myself. I mean, I don’t wake up with my fillings jingling or anything.

Look at how my Apple cable has failed. It's showing the same pattern as yours...

It is pretty grubby, I agree.

But it was clean before the wires were exposed! It's hard to remember to clean a cable when you're not using it....and obviously when you're using it and the metal is exposed, then it's a defo no no!

I recently bought one of those snake chargers, after much previous frayage, and it's holding up really well. I recommend

Other cables for comparison. Similar age. Cost £2 each or whatever, vs the £80(!!!!!!) for the Apple cable
