We're doing both WOMAD and BD among others, so see you down there.

You'll love it at Escot :)

I thought I'd already posted to say Good work WoW. But apparently not. So I have now!

I hope to go to at least/hopefully/possibly-

Kingston Green
Strawberry Fair
Ashton Court
Sunbound Unsound
The Beer Festival
Carnival

And maybe more that I can't think of yet.

Oh well -- with that weekend (11-12 August) becoming empty, there's always the chance to sample the Endorse It In Dorset Festival.

There is also this one, at Beauly near Inverness.

I went last year & it was enjoyable enough. Nice place & excellent beer. :) All centered round a big-old sunken walled garden of a long-demolished victorian house. Numbers will be restricted by the size of the garden & last year was pretty-much filled-up. Non-music activities were smallish but the informal side of things was good. Maybe a little over organised (friendly tho) but considering Highland Council's attitude to such events, not unsurprising. This was the second one & they have now got the OK for a 3-day licence for this year but don't seem to be saying anything about making use of it yet.

Aaha! I know a couple of the folk under those costumes. :)

was the parade on the sunday? I didn't do sunday, well not after 11am / before 8pm anyway

best bit of knockengorroch was the 5am sauna missions... mmm hot... sweat... nice mdma... everyone else is on e too... hot... go... run run run spalsh... wahey I'm standing naked in the middle of a festival...

er yeah and apparently there were some bands on and stuff ;)

Thanks for your very useful festival guide 2006.. saves me having to do me own homework.. You forgot St Chartier Festival in mid France (quite near Chartres) though.. Second weekend in July, 5 euros for 5 days (that's camping with showers and running water) but can stay longer.. in a one horse town with chateau and musicians from all over Europe playing free on the street. I went last year and didn't get to bed before 7am every night. The daily bursts of sunshine weren't bad either. There are other concerts on in the chateau, they are about 20 quid, but I didn't go in at all, as there's no need, there's so many other free things going on constantly. And by god the beer's cheap!

The website is www.saintchartier.org

The website is aimed at rich folkies, but ignore that bit cos it's eurocrustie tastic!

I don't know, they do several other festivals & fairs as well, with the same basic costumes. I recognise the costumes from them. I'd hoped to get to Knockengorroch last year but various things prevented it, maybe later this year. :)

Come to the May one and we'll probably meet you :)

One or two more updates to follow this weekend, including samba's information :)

Another couple for you:

Chester Folk Festival
Kelsall, Chester
26th - 29th May (Spring Bank Holiday)
website http://www.chesterfolk.org.uk/

CONCERTS, CEILIDHS, WORKSHOPS, SINGAROUNDS,
SESSIONS, DISPLAYS, CRAFT FAIR - Free camping for weekend ticket holders
The festival is mostly based around The Olive Tree pub (formerly The Morris Dancer). The Concert Marquee and the main campsite are situated in a field behind the pub, while the Ticket Office, Craft Fair, Children's Tent, Food Stalls and First Aid Post are all in the pub grounds. Other venues used are Kelsall Community Centre, Kelsall Social Club, and The Royal Oak pub, where there is also additional camping. All venues are within walking distance.

Haven't been to this for hundered of years since I moved from the NW but I remember it fondly and it seems to still be flourishing

Green Man Festival

18th - 20th August (camping from 17th)
Baskerville Hall, Hay On Wye (but possibly changing venue this year)
Website http://www.thegreenmanfestival.co.uk/

Folk, roots and folktronica. Never been myself as I've always been at Beautiful Days when this is on but I know quite a few people that have been and love it.

Friday 25 to Sunday 27 August 2006 (Bank Holiday weekend) (probable dates for the Festival, not yet confirmed)
Solfest, Tarnside Farm, Tarns, Silloth, West Cumbria
(on the Solway Coast)
Solfest website
Strongly recommended by Tort and moose who went last year!
I didn't go last year - got pissed at Wolfie's instead. With you, William :D

Heard nothing but good things about it, though.

You know my memory can get a bit hazy at times ... :D ;)

But did you go in 2004, moose??

Lots of editing to do and new details to add. Next few days promise. But also I have beer drinking commitments over Stig's birhday weekend so ... :o

No, I was getting pissed at Wolfie's. Not with you, though, that time ;)
Think you're thinking about Flip and Mrs Flip.

Yep that's it :o.

Will sort that one out now!

I owe you an apologetic beer, but I probably owe you a pint or two anyway .... Brum Alehouses here we come! :)

Thank you for doing this William...so far my plan is Strawberry Fair, Womad and Beautiful Days...twill be my 1st time at all 3 :)

Hi WoW et al - we are just putting the finishing touches to the line up for Endorse-it 2006, so announcements should be made in the next few weeks ( if booking agents pull their fingers out  ).
FYI we also have a one-day indoor Festival ( Endorse-it In-doors ;) ) going on in Frome on 16th April ( Easter Sunday) with The Beat, Pronghorn, Cracked Actors, Far Cue, Topue and Magic Skool Bus - see here for details.

Watch efests or the ENdorse-it website for details :)

Just found out about Thimbleby which is held in Co. Durham the same weekend as Glastonbury usually is - the last weekend in June.

They also hold a festival in September, but I'm not sure what the dates are.

Anyone fancy going through for this? I *heart* Somerset. We could make a weekend of it, drink some cider...

Just a thought...

I'm REALLY up for this Endorse It lark (it's in Dorset though!!). Flounder's sound (I've met him), Pronghorn rock :D and I hear nothing but good about the festie generally ... mmm local beer and cider !!

Beautiful Days is the following weekend, probably less than 50 miles away ...

I'm not sure whether Stig will be able to get to Endorse It as well as BD (we both already have tickets for the latter). I hope Dorset's possible for her too, but she has less leave than I do.

I want another week in the SW again, sandwiched between two festivals, like I did last August!!

We're doing one in Somerset ( not a million miles from Pilton)in April ( the one dayer) and one in Dorset (3 dayer)

I was talking about the one day-er in Somerset.... but I may be up for the Big One in Dorset too. I have a stupid amount of work to do over the summer but I hope to balance it nicely between festivals too :)

eta: ooooh, its in August. Now August I can do :) its just June and July that are gonna be silly busy work-wise. August is cool...... dont think I can do BD too tho, my folks are having a ruby anniversary week on the IoW...

Got you now Flounder and crustychick, April is so not the Festival season for me, that I wasn't really thinking about that Somerset one at all.

But the full Summer festie looks as if it'll be fantastic!!

Holy crap. Have just noticed that means I won't be able to go to Secret Garden either this year   :( :(
