That Knockengorroch festie sounds ace. Will definitely think about that one.

Knockengorroch is simply my favourite festival ever ever ever. It's probably going to be the only one I make it to this year (well, in theory...) due to workload.... but its absolutely brill. The May one is usually better weather than the September one too....

oooh oooh! Sounds good. Is it lots of fiddly folky, bagpipes and lovely eccentric hippy vibe?

Fluffy?

Aha! Got it in one. They have lots of folk-influence stuff, and lots of weird stuff during the day. Regulars include the Weird Attractors and the Peatbog Faeries. they had Desmond Dekker last year. They usually have one biggish name. But loads and loads of different stuff you won't see anywhere else. Lots of cool scottish stuff. A dance tent where my mate Frogpocket John usually plays too.....

Also has Sams sauna - the only place to be to keep warm at night... mmmm... nekkid hippies :)

And a cinema teepee and a story-telling longhouse and and and.... well, you just have to go really. lots for kids too.

Sunday night always ends with a speech from the organiser and then the piper plays.... and then he plays and plays and people drum and sing and go mental dancing..... sounds odd and rubbish but its just the most amazing atmosphere :)

Oh, and the bar sells lovely organic beer and cider and heather ale. yum.

Whooop whooooop :)

Oooh that sounds just lovely. Will deffo think about going to the May one! :)

Peatbog Faeries =

Frogpocket John - fab name :D

Doesn't sound odd and rubbish at all! Sounds quirky, completely non-commercial and bloody good - festivals like that (and Shambala *sob*) are the most fun, methinks, where all kinds of madness is going on...

William - you have missed off the Truck Festival..

http://www.truckfestival.org/details

One i'm thinking of going to..

(though looks dangerously like Ashton Court w/e)

Yes, it is the same w/e as Ashton Court I'm afraid. I think AC has been moved one week later. Good for possibly not clashing with Lambeth Country Show, but not otherwise ...

I actually tried to find that Truck website last night, using the old URL from last year's list, but it just led to me to one of the record companies involved in putting it together

Will rectify during next editing session, and will include other new links/info provided in this thread ...

another fone for your calender .. Bloom festival - www.bloomfestival.com
on the 12th & 13th August.. site opens on fri 11th. held at Larmer Tree Gardens

web page is essentially a holding page atm, and they haven't had thier licence approved yet (but shouldn't be a problem).
(i will probably be involved in someway with this festi hence knowing about it before it goes public ;).

That would take a lot of research to do it for all festivals, of course myself and others will know for some, but I can't cover everything. Wherever possible I do check and provide links to the website for the festival.

Maybe just ad-hoc, where known. I'll do a bit of research for you later, to get the ball rolling.

A mere £45 if you order before the end of April. DETAILS

Will double check with Stig and get onto that Scottish festival plan soon! :)

I don't know who the fuck the 'Paddyrastas' are but the name alone sounds brilliant :D

Eliza Carthy, and the Baghdaddies, too

Main list now hugely extended throughout, into TWO really long posts!!!

:)

All updates so far offered (thanks people!) have been incorporated. See posts one and two of this thread, and post three for a few more, and general links to festival websites (can add more of the latter later).

Keep em coming folks .... after I've had a day or two off, ideally! :p

That was hard work ...

ETA : If the list continues to grow at this rate, I'll be glad of those five reserved posts!

I used to work some Saturdays up to 2000. Average one in four, but it ended up being average two in four a lot of the time from September to April, to make up for my festie season needz .... :p

Thank fuck I don't do Sats anymore, because now I have a bit more money, I go to even more festies than in the 90s ...
