Ferguson complains the transfer market is over-inflated

Not in my experience. How would you suggest it be done? PayPal is out, bank transfers get fucked up most of the time.

Regardless, I'm not making bets with random people on the internet I don't know. Why would I?
It's nothing but excuses, your full of shit

Where have I contradicted myself? When you can't find anything, fuck off.

Lets have a look:

United's team looks weak. They got absolutely ripped apart by the current best in the world, and they now just lost their best player and one of their best. Maybe they'll do alright in the league - they do have a lot of decent players and a great winning mentality (and other teams have a pathetic losing mentality to them).

If you include 5-7 as mid table then I think it's possible (not likely though).

What he wanted was playing time and assurances.

There's a small thing called the World Cup next year and Tevez is ambitious to get on the Argentina plane to South Africa.

To suggest he's a mercenary because he moved to play more is idiotic.

To suggest he'll play more at Citeh is idiotic, how many strikers have they signed now.

i reckon robinho will drop back into an attacking midfield position, still its a crazy ammount of strikers they have now.

i would have thought owne will score more then tevez as well, but tevez will probabley do a hell of a lot more for the team then owen will.

Interesting times at United.

Whilst Fergie might come out with this hypocritical blather about inflated prices in the transfer market, he's been quietly prising away youth players with relative top dollar for the last couple of summers.

Looking at United's reserve and youth set up, it reads like a galacticos of under 21 world football. The Italians, Petrucci, Massacci and Macheda were signed using underhand, but legal, techniques. The Italian FA have taken umbrage at United's policy of nipping in and snapping up 16 and 17 year old's, but their hands are tied as players are not bound by contracts under the Italian system until they reach 18.

Lazio's president Claudio Lotito has called for a change in regulations to prevent homegrown players such as Federico Macheda from moving abroad..."We tried in every way to stop Manchester United from taking away our player but the present Italian regulations don't give you any type of defence," said Lotito. "In reality we find ourselves in front of a proper cattle market.

"I talked repeatedly with Macheda's parents, we established a dialogue, but it was not possible to do anything. We could not compete with United's offer. That is not right, we have to be provided with more reliable and concrete rules than those which govern Italian clubs."

Not content with pissing off the Italians, United have also used their financial muscle to raid Brazil and effectively corner the market there after striking a deal with the investment firm 'Traffic Football Management' that affords them first refusal on over 100 players that are seen as the cream of Brazilian youth football. After paying 5 million quid for a 17 year old defender, who hasn't even made a first team appearance, Carlos Alberto steamed in with the following:

Carlos Alberto said:
"It is disgraceful United are allowed to rape Brazilian football.

"The big teams have the money and can take our best players. It is a big problem in Brazil. The clubs cannot keep hold of them if they are good young players because they can make much more money in other countries.

He's also landed Ljajic, Tosic, the De Silvas and Obertan, all for top money. He went in for Ramsey, with £5 million agreed, but Ramsey chose Arsenal and the American boards suggest that he's in for 19 year old FC Dallas midfielder, Brek Shea for 4 million.

So there seems to be a change in United's transfer policy. It's anybodies guess as to why. Maybe it's the Glazers, maybe it's just Fergie looking at how successful Wenger's been investing in youth. Who knows? The facts are that United seem to be in the middle of a very expensive youth experiment.

at i guess i would say they just cant find the required quality locally at the moment.

Man united have had a very good youth policy for a hell of a long time. They just also buy a fair few marquee signings as well.

Like I said the real damage is being done by medicore noveau rich wankers like Citeh, Ronaldo for 80m is good value for Madrid and yeah they are going for the best, it's the likes of Tevez being given £200,000 aa week wage packets at City that is the problem and it is a problem not for the really big clubs but for the smaller clubs who will find it next to impossible to get value in the market.

How else are City supposed to start competing? They are in for all the players available... but that said, they do seem to be in awe to media hype.

They need to find a decent defender to replace Dunne first and foremost - (Zabaleta seems to be their hope here) then their abundance in attack might prove significant - always liked Benjani who is a good player and Ireland...

at i guess i would say they just cant find the required quality locally at the moment.

Seems to be a general problem in England - no talent - and so we need to go abroad for it... It's a good job we're rich or we'd be screwed... :D :hmm:

AFA the OP is concerned - competition tends towards monopoly and inflated prices...

theres plenty of decent centre backs coming through at all times and a fair few midfielders as well, we aren't good at producing strikers at the moment though, or flair midfielders.

I think no telent is harsh, the u21's proved that thers good people coming through over the summer and i suspect the u19's will be doing the same over the next couple of weeks.

surely the other way round! spain need to sort out thier tax situation ro be inline with us and stop giving the richers so many loop holes.
Why should they be inline with you? You're the country with out of whack tax laws! 50 bloody percent!
lol and anyone in the world being a poor man dirk kuyt.

I reckon man united will finish 2nd or third this year, aresnal are the ones at threat from man city(unlikely) or villa(really unlikely) not man united.
Arsenal are on the up, Chelsea if Ancelotti doesn't work, or United are the ones who should be looking over their shoulders. Not that it's that likely that City will break in this season. Next could be it though.
and revol you know fergie wanted to keep tevez right?

Selective memory is amusing eh?

So you don't tell me how one actually does it easily, you just say I'm full of shit. I've looked into it to sell some junk on an online game for cash, and it was too much of a pain to bother.

As for my "contradictions", I can't even figure out why you think they are, so I can't really respond. I guess you think a team of decent players with a winning mentality can't finish 5-7. Can't imagine why, but that's the only way I see a possible contradiction.

So who is the most skillful English player in your view? Most of the best players I can think of would be foreign (Messi, Arshavin etc) and I struggle to think of ANY English players coming thru who have anything like that level of skill - indeed English players in general are at best high energy or good hassling skills, good defensively and organisationally but ease on the ball and being able to keep the ball seem to be alien concepts - one of the sobering aspects of the Man U defeat in the CL final was watching Barcelona stroke the ball around and keep possession.

And even with the recent success for England under Capello - I would suggest that internationally this is what trips us up in every competition I have ever watched England compete in...

Still not really on topic so apologies to OP - I'll post this elsewhere :)

It was only a joke. :)

Fwiw, I do think Arsenal will be quite strong this year. I don't think they'll miss Adebayor much, especially if they can keep RvP and Eduardo fit.

First off: paypal

it's the perfect way to settle online bets

2nd saying with one breath Man utd are shit, then saying they've good players with a winning mentality, then saying they'll finish mid table, then saying they're gonna finish 4th (but not wanting to put any money where your mouth is) is what I'd call contradicting oneself

It gets better Discordia is a white south african ranting about taxes on the wealthy being too high, would it be prejudiced of me to assume he's a cunt?

As for his bullshit about United being weakened and the possibility of them dropping to 5-7 position, well he seems to have overlooked that United have a whole batch of young players who will only improve, have Hargreaves due back at the end of September (a player that was really missed in the big games last season) and a young player by the name of Rooney who will be freed up with Ronaldo's departure, oh and instead of Tevez doing a poor impression of Rooney they also have a striker who is always looking to get into the box.

Unfortunately it's usually the first aid box.

Well considering he's a freebie and is on a basic of £30,000 a week or so I think United can afford the risk, especially since he will be replacing Tevez as a squad player and Macheda and Wellbeck will be pushing through a bit more.

I'd be more worried about the Fat Man losing Alonso, like I said last year when Rafa seemed determined to offload him to Juventus he's a great player and would be a massive loss.

Actually why on earth was Rafa looking to replace Alonso with Barry last season anyway, personality clash?
