Ferguson complains the transfer market is over-inflated

I read four there. How about Quinton Fortune, Diego Forlan, Alan Smith, Liam Miller, and that's even before we start on the keepers.

Ferguson's transfer policy has often been hit and miss. The emergence of the homegrown generation to some extent hid that.

To be fair to Ferguson, given how he has performed in Spain since he left OT Forlan was a lot better player than his time in England suggested.

for each one of those I could name 2 quality signings, some of them for bargain prices 2:

Irwin
Bruce
Cantona
Pallister
Schmeichal
Parker
Hughes
Mcclair
Sharpe
Kanchelskis
Solsjkear
Staam
Johnson
Ronaldo
Van Nistleroy
Van De Sar
Keane
Vidic
Evra
Heinze

shall I go on?

I suspect that the Glazers have used most of Ronaldo's transfer fee to pay off some of that ballooning debt, and that while Ferguson's putting a brave face on it, he must know that his time of being able to pay top dollar for the world's best players is coming to an end.

well considering they made bids for Benzema that would suggest nonsense.

A player you described as "world class"?

You are hilarious at times. :D

He is an international for Argentina so yes he is world class but he is overrated, especially this season. I'm probably just reacting to how so many people wanked on about him and how he managed to somehow become a fan favourite despite being shite this season.

Berbatov is a much better player, though I'd still like to have Tevez as another option in the squad, unfortunately he couldn't accept that and has now spent all summer whinging about Fergie like some unloved ginger step child.

what like nicky butt? i dont remember him being that much of whiner!:D

tevez is utter class, he scored a hell of a lot of very importent goals for you lot last season and between him and ronaldo leaving you've lost out big.

Berbetov will proove this season if he is over priced and shit or just took time to settle and wasn't in the right system or whatever. I think he will be fine as long as everyone around him works thier arse off to make up for his laziness but im not convinced theres enough players at man united that will.

I can't believe you haven't filled the gaping hole in your midfield yet, without hargreeves your fucked, anderson and carrick aren't tough enough to play together in the middle and scholes and giggs are just about past it and heading for a shotgun behind a shed, which leaves you with ummm o'shea, who is hardly essien!

I will be shocked if man united win the prem this year and don't expect them to get anywhere near the champions league either.

The transfer market has been overpriced in England for Years

this isn't exactly new news is it?

example Darren bent went to Spurs for the same price Henry went to Barca for?

WTF is that about?

Well, one of them was 21 and had a roughly 1:2 goals to premiership games record with a team that got relegated, the other was 29 and had a history of injuries, had almost moved the previous year and then decided he wanted to leave. Go figure.

Bents not fit to lace Henry's boots

different fucking class

i always wonder with ferguson how much is mind games and how much is genuine self delusion

i find this whole will man utd win the champions league and the league again this year or will one of the other 3 clubs who can afford it win it really boring, the only reson the prices are so high is to stop other clubs having a chance of getting into the champions league spots imo.

i reckon owen will do really well for man utd and get back into the england squad in time for the world cup

think your right but thats beacuse there aren't a lot of good english strikers around at the moment rather then owen being amazing. A lot will depend on what happens with walcott this year, if he moves centrel and thrives or not.

Michael Owen may surprise all of you next season... 89 caps and 40 goals for England .... he's not exactly talentless.

If they can get him fit, which is a substantial "if", then I agree with this.

Mentally he looked disillusioned for most of his time at Newcastle .... if he now rediscovers his love of the game, and gets fit, he could have a renaissance.

Can't imagine that Walcott will ever make a centre forward, though I could see him using his pace alongside a big target man in the way that Agbonlahor does for Villa.

A deafening silence in response to this, I notice. :)

"Love of the game". :D

He loves money. then racehorses, then Liverpool. In that order.

Very old news, the facts are none of us actually now the how the books are being balanced, but apparently they are. United put in a bid for Benzema and apparently they made moves for Ribery too, so unless that was just an attempt to hoodwink United fans into believing there is money for transfers it would suggest there is quite a bit in Ferguson's war chest.

It reminds me of the time he sold, Kanchelskid, Ince & Hughes and didn't buy anyone.

IIRC we won the league the next year

I think very much he's putting his faith in the young lads coming through (not to mention the fact he's brought 3 players in to replace 2 going out)
