It's not that Fergie has lost the plot maybe more that he doesn't have the time and energy to reconstruct the team as needs to be done...

Added to that the fact that Arsenal and Chelsea have raised the bar - it will require a mammoth effort from someone who wanted to retire 3 (?) years ago

In Rooney and Ronaldo he has a great basis for the future - add Ferdinand to that as well if he stays... but Players like Van Der Sar and RVN will soon begin to fade and it will be up to him to replace them - does he have the long term plans that are necessary to propel them past Chelski?
