FC United

That was me in the Slough top - the other three people i was with were two Man Utd and a Dons fan. I also met Wycombe fans, two blokes from Hastings who'd come to show solidarity and a bloke who'd flown from Australia!
Really enjoyed it, thought the United fans were great apart from the plonkers baricking the steward about his weight for 15 minutes. Felt really sorry for him and impressed with the girl who game them some stick. I wouldn't have the bottle, well i would at a slough match, but non league should be self-policing.
Stick with 'the only team in Manchester not in debt' and "Stand up if you've got no seats!"

What's that? Glory supporting Mancs? Well I never!!! Typical bloody prawn sandwich bregade can't get their own way so they rip it up and make up a team with the crappesat name in all crisingdom(exceptin, there is Everton)

Not at all like a team who couldn't qualify for a competition so cried and sulked until they got let in anyway?

small world...I was stood right behind you

Interesting story by Stuart Brennan in the Pink section of the Manchester Evening News about FC United's trip. One of those supporter interviewed is Spike other wise known as Steve Tillzey co-author of No Retreat which tells a story of Manchester Anti Fascists in the 70s,80s and early 90s.

On the FC United Board is Andy Walsh who was sent to jail in Manchester in the poll tax campaign.

That's interesting Chuck, cheers. Do you reckon you'll go and see a game or two this season?

I am as it goes. Me and my mate , Tremendous knowledge Dave ( who won £250k on who wants to be a millionaire ) are deffo taking the wives and his daughter to Cheadle Town when FC United play them. Might even be brave enough to go to New Mills but the sight of those six fingered hands they have there might be too much for the child.

Might even PM Chorlton to see if he wants to come out and play.

I wish them all the best. The keeper is a City supporter apparantly.

Otherwise I am off to United versus Chelsea and United versus Spurs as Tremendous Knowledge used some of his winnings to buy up some season tickets from the more principled United supporters. I will go and watch City a couple of times and Stockport.

And of course watching Chelsea romp home again courtesy of the Greek, Norwegian and Portugese satellite TV to be found in our local pubs.

PS I have sent off for tickets for the English Anarchists 2nd Team versus the Wombles All Stars, should be a belter.

The keeper, Barrie George, has denounced his blueness. He's class. He's the England Partially-Sighted 1st team keeper, did you know that? Did TK Dave?

He hasn't. I didn't . I'll ask him. Good quiz question.

Article from Salford Advertiser:

Fresh home from World Cup glory a homeless man from Salford is hoping to achieve a bright future in the ranks of FC United set up by Manchester United fans opposed to Malcolm Glazer.

Craig Phillips, 19, stepped off the plane reeling from his successes at the Homeless World Cup where he scored six goals. Although the England team didn't relive the glory of 66, losing out to Italy, Craig managed a hat-trick against South Africa, bringing the team an 8-1 victory.

Craig, who returned to sheltered housing on Salford Precinct, said: "I couldn't believe it when someone came to me and said he wanted me to try out for fc united. It was like a dream. This could be my chance in life. I live in sheltered housing, I don't have a job or my own flat. This is just what I needed. It's given me so much confidence to know I can do anything".

Throughout the competition, the eight-strong team of players from Manchester, Liverpool, Bolton, Halifax and Wolverhampton came face-to-face with other homeless teams from Brazil, South Africa, Portugal and Argentina.

Craig said: "Playing in the Homeless World Cup was the best experience of my life. I gave it my all and I got spotted for my hard work. It was so emotional during the final. I was watching the lads give all they could and it was amazing. They were such a good bunch, and I think we all came home with something a lot more significant than winning."

Sir Alex Ferguson applauded the side's efforts saying: "The lads have played well. They deserve their success".

Well - i been to most games this season and i gotta say..... its brilliant.

European aways aside i can't remember the last time i had so much fun at a football game - around 2 thousand fans singin and actin the goat with a surprisingly good standard off football - while i bought a season ticket, i also managed to wangle a press pass http://photobucket.com/albums/b376/FCUnited/ and the craic is damn good

one fo the main problems the fans of MUFC found was that kids could no longer go to games with their mates in the way they had - so to this end kids are heavily discounted (2 quid, adults 8) but this saturday is a promotion - kids (under 18) get in free.... if yer in the manchester area - come along - you may be pleasently surprised.

You going to Blackpool mechanics on the 10th.

A meetup may be in order if you are.

Its the most fun at football i have had in years.

Andy Walsh, Chairman of FC United was interviewed on Radio 4 this morning - an interesting documentary by a fella who is IMO well worth listening to - about the greed of the game and about what made him make the choice to set up FC.... whether or not you agree with the formation of FC i think you might find this pretty interesting - repeated again at 21:30 or you can listen again from the website
