*coughs self to death in fit of disbelief over niavety of thread*
Football was ruined years ago. The club isn't going to go bust whatever happens, Glazer fucks up, someone else will buy it. It was ruined the moment the idea of distributing television profits equally was thrown out the window. I didn't see any united fans tearing up their season tickets then and talking about 'corporate scum' - Because they benifited greatly from it. Unlike very many teams.
Football is fucked and anyone who buys Sky is equally as culpable as Malcom Glazer in my opinion. Glazer could have happened at any time since United became a PLC and surely fans have always realised that. It's not 3000 united fans making a stand that would make a difference, it's 3,000,000 people cancelling their subscriptions to Sky that would change the culture of football. (for what generate the revenue that attracts 'the corporate scum?'
For every 3,000 true United fans, there are 3,000 'lunchbox brigaders' waiting to park their saabs and tour the United Megastore, and watch a game for little Felix and Joshua's birthday and shout "'c'mon giggsy, this really isn't on, we've bloody well come all the bloody way from surrey for this"
I don't mean to be sceptical but I really can't help it. Good luck to the Fans Club I suppose, but I have limited sympathy for the team that without doubt examplified the morphing of football into a brand awareness exercise, (as distinct from a game) complaining when a buy-out happens. Glazer may be a cunt but so was every twat who shafted the game itself in selling it's soul out in the first place.
*It's shit really innit, football*
