FC United

Just wondering, are these guys part of the bunch that a few years ago said everyone who bought counterfeit/fake merchandise were not worthy of the club? I recall seeing some of them on a footy forum some 5 years ago, if they are on that boat, it would be such a sweet, sweet irony.

Still, good luck with that.

Probably not no, becuase not only does that sound like utter bollocks to me, but a sizeable proportion of proper fans won't even buy replica shirts because it lines the pockets of the plc (originally as a protest against Edwards in general and the removal of football club from the badge)

Unlike those twats at Newcastle who still line up in their colours, despite being told they cost £5 to make and sell for £50 by their own fat cunt of a chairman.

Exactly - the loyal Toon Army, who had other things to do in the late eighties.

me, i'm not a united fan, however i'm lending my support to a group for whom the glazer takeover has been the final straw in a long campaign of alienating the football fans that make up that club. As you have said before this may even be a successful move for the Manchester United PLC and there may even be success on the pitch - that isn't the issue to these fans, the issue is that they no longer have a club - as i can see it this is a culmination in a long chain of events, stopping standing - ejecting fans, taking the words Football Club off the badge, and now this, a takeover of the club by a man for whom manchester means nothing - so much so that i believe that his bid for the club on the anniversery of the most important day in the clubs history - the club has gone...
Like you say, nothing to do with him.

if yer not involved yer not involved fair enough - had i lived anywhere else i probably would not be bothered - its my local team and it is an example of how fucked the game has become - i see exactly the same things happening at my club and i'm pretty sure everyone else can in their clubs to some degree or another - time maybe for fans action.
Agreed, there are lots of fucked up things going on. Nothing new tho. There is a way to do this, as someone mentioned before, boycott sky sports for example.[/QUOTE]

but chnumbers, i am beginning to think that you might be best sitting there behind your computer sniping about manchester ushited out of rabid ABUism rather than offer anything constructive... after all you have already said this has got to be good for united - whats the fuss about?
Naa, said many times that it may be good, wait and see before complaining. Whats this ABU bullshit, just like the Anti-American thread when you criticise bush.

Whoah. You cant call the Toon supporters twats, we may be being ripped off but that doesnt make us twats. The club has been badly run for years and they make a packet but when your talking about proper football supporters you just cant beat the Toon Army. Not a sight of a praw sandiwch or bap in SJP and an atmosphere that most oter clubs - including United - would kill for.

And Ern - wtf you on about?

I think this was me, I get sick of greed league fans talking about what a poor state the game is in then heading home to watch their sky dishes. It's just stupid and hypocritical in my mind.
Yeah, it means you can't watch games on telly but five live cover them all and best of all, it gives you more impetus to go and watch live matches. The fact of the matter is, supporter power (especially at big clubs) is diminished because the teams don't rely on money through the gate anymore. And the bigger you are, the truer this is.
Which is in a way why it's funny to see Utd up shit creek because like I say, I don't remember them (the fans) complaining about getting huge wads of cash from the premier league and European TV deals. It's those huge wads of cash that make it impossible for all the well meaning and loyal fans to do anything about the situation, because they completely devalue your contribution.
I do actually feel sorry for long time Utd fans but like I say, this is a culmination of what's long been coming anyway. I think a lot of Utd fans talk about seeing the club run on a membership basis (ala Barca) but this hasn't been on the cards since Louis Edwards took over really as far as I can see.
There is a hell of a lot wrong with football that won't be put right unless there is a serious melt-down of finances and the clubs have to try and attract fans back through the gates again. Then they might start listening - this will never happen whilst they are getting millions every year from Murdoch's evil empire.
A slightly confused post I think.

Just heard that we (AFC Wimbledon) could be FC United's first opposition. Which would be an honour for us. Not sure if that would be a home or away game, more when I get further details..

This should be a great occasion. I was listening to the radio last night and an Arsenal fan was saying it costs £3500 for a season ticket there now. What the fuck is wrong with premiership football?

Fuck the lot of them - hope they enjoy games with no atmosphere.

Not confused at all, some very good points made. Bollocks to the premier league anyway, the second division (or whatever it's called this week) is where it's at. Here's hoping for an away trip to Blackpool either right at the start or at the end of the season!

What is wrong is the clubs know they can rely on a type of fan who see's premier league football in the way they would have seen membership to an exclusive golf club or gym 20 years ago.
We don't get too many of them at Blackpool though. It's only £16.50 per game. (daylight robbery) - Those types of twats would brag about how much they pay to follow 'the boys' - Our season ticket prices don't have the requisite boardroom kudos.

Aye. Here's hoping we sign a midfield before you get here.

Home or way end?
Also invite Cockney and push him in front of a bus.

I doubt that the game would be segregated by the thin blue line, but I'll go in the United end, cheers.

How much is your Chelsh season ticket again?

A very reasonable five pints of bitter or Guiness courtesy of Norwegian, Greek or Portugese satelitte TV in two or three pubs round here thanks. Can't always get a seat mind .

Now about this plan to re-enact Trotsky's death with Cockneyrebel playing L.D Bronstein.............

*coughs self to death in fit of disbelief over niavety of thread*

Football was ruined years ago. The club isn't going to go bust whatever happens, Glazer fucks up, someone else will buy it. It was ruined the moment the idea of distributing television profits equally was thrown out the window. I didn't see any united fans tearing up their season tickets then and talking about 'corporate scum' - Because they benifited greatly from it. Unlike very many teams.
Football is fucked and anyone who buys Sky is equally as culpable as Malcom Glazer in my opinion. Glazer could have happened at any time since United became a PLC and surely fans have always realised that. It's not 3000 united fans making a stand that would make a difference, it's 3,000,000 people cancelling their subscriptions to Sky that would change the culture of football. (for what generate the revenue that attracts 'the corporate scum?'
For every 3,000 true United fans, there are 3,000 'lunchbox brigaders' waiting to park their saabs and tour the United Megastore, and watch a game for little Felix and Joshua's birthday and shout "'c'mon giggsy, this really isn't on, we've bloody well come all the bloody way from surrey for this"
I don't mean to be sceptical but I really can't help it. Good luck to the Fans Club I suppose, but I have limited sympathy for the team that without doubt examplified the morphing of football into a brand awareness exercise, (as distinct from a game) complaining when a buy-out happens. Glazer may be a cunt but so was every twat who shafted the game itself in selling it's soul out in the first place.
*It's shit really innit, football*
So what do you suggest we do, shake our fists at the radio in a darkened room every saturday? Throw darts at a Glazer dartboard? I cant believe the cynicism on here. at least were doing something positive.

What? 20 years to late? Well done, United fans have kickabout in park. Rest of world expected to come and clap. Yeah right, you lot give a shit about the state of football.......... (sarcasm)

EDIT:
Actually I wish FC United every success, I have genuine sympathy for long time United fans and my response is overly harsh. It would make me sick to see my club turn into what yours (and others) have become. As yours led the way, I hate it. I actually don't mind a lot of your players and manager, but that's not really the point.

I'll definitely will try to make it to the AFC Wimbledon- FC United friendly on the 23rd. Sounds like one not to be missed. :)

I've got to say, fair play to the rebel mancs for dragging a part of football back to its roots. I hate mancs but I hate capitalists even more, and Glazer is a stench that is destroying football.

I might have to work but if I don't I'll certainly go. Haven't bought a ticket though- hoping there will be some left on the day...

I shall deffinitely be there & I think Ernie (are we allowed to mention his name..??) may be there as well.

Places for a pre-match beer are..

The ground - 2 bars, The Bricklayers arms on Hawks Road about 12 mins walk from the ground. Or if you fancy a bit of "sleaze" the Peel about 5 mins from the ground.
