Favourite Stand Up Comedians

i REALLY don't get Ross Noble. He's wacky, not funny. He does have a very quick brain when it comes to free associating and the like, but it's fucking short on actual jokes.

Glad you made it fella. I had visions of you still be in the pub until closing. Thumbs up to your commitment and willing commuting skills at that stage of the weekend.

Lee and Herring are very good indeed.

I thought they'd get halfway there and go for a pint. :D We've shown such a lack of faith in them. :(

He was hilarious when we saw just a minute being recorded so maybe he's more suited to panel shows and stuff rather than stand up.

Kojo , why hasnt anyone mentioned KOJO!

young witty homegrown

Hi five! :D He's done SO well. Sunday nights at Corks is JOKES!

Have you seen the youtube footage of Dave Chappelle playing Corks? It is the weirdest thing ever. Like having Beyonce play your front room.
Dave was in town and Kojo got him to drop in- it was way before Dave's big comeback- he hadnt done a gig in a loooong time.

The funniest thing about the footage is the sound engineer cum doorman who keeps wandering past Dave, adjusting mic wires, insisting that he put his cig out- in the middle of Dave's set!.

Marcus Bridgestock, Dylan Moran, Al Murray, Lee Mack, Ed Byrne, Sean Meo, Matt Welcome
Technically a comedy singer, but Stephen Lynch is bloody hilarious! ...providing you have a sick sense of humour!

Yes! Stephen Lynch is jaw-droppingly funny (and a brilliant musician too).

Anyone who can make a song about Nazi beliefs funny gets my vote -

i missed out on the corks hang outs cos i thought I was now too big for the meat market ambiance in Corks :(

Me mate's going to see him in Hackney on Sunday and I hear he's off to America after that :(

do they still feature good comedians at Corks...i thought it was Saturday

Acts I remember from this year: Tony Law, Henrik Elmer, Shelagh Martin, all good.
Frankie Boyle was very good doing stand-up too.

One of my ultimate pet hates is the publicity photos comedians have, in particular the ones that get printed in the Guardian Guide. For some reason Irish comedians always seem to have the worst ones. With them looking inoffensively whimsical, or worse, 'surprised' - an expression which suggests they have just been injected with embalming fluid whilst a proctologist sticks a finger up their ring.

Frankie Boyle?

Is Jerry Sadowitz, but without the humour or the magic tricks. Jerry is "da man".

I always suspect that people who like Frankie Boyle and/or Jimmy Carr have a collection of Andrew Dice Clay videos lurking at the back of their wardrobes.
I'm a cunt like that.

Definitely Sunday nights mate. :)I saw a youtube clip of him yesterday and Ive got to say his 'arent women all like this' stuff particularly irritating.

Seriously unoriginal, ah well- he cant be brilliant all the time. He'll have a blast in the US.

Actually, I always suspect Frankie Boyle and/or Jimmy Carr to have a collection of Andrew Thompson videos lurking at the back of their wardrobe.

Andrew Thompson was a lecturer I had at college who thought he was a 'character' but was in fact one of the most mundane and singularly unfunny people I have ever come across in my life.

Actually I haven't seen Frankie Boyle but he looks a dick. Jimmy carr is a dick and looks like a "trendy" american mormon preacher.

thinking abouit it , perhaps the only comedian I have ever seen who really made me laugh was John Shuttleworth.

I love Allan Partridge but unfortunately Steve Coogan's stand-up is pretty piss.

:hmm: :(

Watched Russel Brand's stand up on tv last night and was almost annoyed because he spent the WHOLE hour (or however long it was) just talking about himself! His ego knows no bounds!!!!!!! But it was amusing, so all is forgiven.

I still love him though, bless :D Probably even more now (but not in that way, more in a 'I'd be friends with him because he's very endearing and charming but I'd never ever ever have a relationship with him' sort of way.

I thought he was well suited to stand up - very clever stuff as well as funny - and the way the tied the whole thing up by the end of the show was nothing short of amazing  So much so I still remember it, but if you don't like surreal humour you won't find him funny. Surreal humour is my favourite type of humour!

Fizzy logic:
