Favourite song/piece of music from a film

There are far too many to be able to choose one favourite.

On the Disney thread, I choose my favourite songs in Disney movies.

Chim Chim Cher-ee
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocius
When You Wish Upon a Star
Whistle While You a Work
Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah

From the AFI nominees for top (American) movie songs of the last 100 years http://http.vitalstreamcdn.com/aficom_vitalstream_com/docs/tvevents/pdf/songs400.pdf, and their top choices http://www.afi.com/tvevents/100years/songs.aspx I think the top 5 are simply wonderful.

Others I think are excellent (not necessarily the performance in the film and trying to restrict to one per film):

Cheek to Cheek (TOP HAT)
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS)
High Noon (Do Not Forsake Me, Oh My Darlin) (HIGH NOON)
New York, New York (ON THE TOWN)
Oh, What a Beatiful Mornin' (OKLAHOMA)
Rock Around the Clock (BLACKBOARD JUNGLE)
Stormy Weather (STORMY WEATHER)
Summertime (PORGY AND BESS)
That's Entertainment (BAND WAGON)
There is Nothing Like A Dame (SOUTH PACIFIC)
Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera, Sera) (MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH)

Looking at music, their score list is a pretty good place to start to find some wonderful music.

Other films with exceptional music in them:

Genevieve
The Great Escape

Other bits of music that I can think of just now:

James Bond theme

There are obviously many, many more.

'the killing moon' by echo and the bunnymen from the beginning of donnie darko. One of the many, many, many reasons that the director's cut was utter wank was that this song had been replaced at the start and only showed up in the form of a lousy remix later on

just found this thread, it's ace

i love the Withnail & I closing credits music - it's this wonderfully skewed circus-style music that somehow manages to be bleak, grandiose and kind of stumbling drunk all at once...

they also use a lovely folky version of the main motif when the characters are in Pembrokeshire (i think).

and Hang Out the Stars in Indiana from the same film. :)

from the Big Lebowski - the dream sequence set to Just Popped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)

Yeah good choice, I love Roy Orbison! I like that Annie Lennox cover of a Neil Young's 'Dont let it bring you down', someone reminded me of that A.Bsountrack.

Move Away and Shine (Polyphonic Spree) - Thumbsucker
All of Natural Born Killers
The M83 stuff in Nightwatch
Rob D's Clubbed to Death - everything sci fi in the last 5 years in seems...
God Gave Rock and Roll to You (Kiss) - Bill and Ted
So Ronery - Team America

Ready steady go in collateral:cool:
Turners theme in Performance.
Singing in the rain in Clockwork Orange:eek:
To the limit in Scarface/ We need a montage in Team America:D

I watched Zombie's film the Devils Rejects other day & love the end song Freebird by Lynyrd Skynrd SPOILER ALERT DONT WATCH THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE FILM

I think this post was created before embedded vid urls hit the board upgrade so I'm gonna post this on Favourite song/piece of music from a film 2 (with embedded Video)
