My favourite is Right Time aka I Need A Roof - Mighty Diamonds. Beautiful conscious lyrics and three part harmonies over incredible "rockers" rhythms showcasing Sly Dunbar's drumming at Channel One.

That might be mine too, along with Heart of the Congos and Culture's Harder Than The Rest.

Max Romeo - War in a Babylon
Spear - Social Living
Youth - Screaming Target
Brigadier Jerry - Jamaica, Jamaica
Johhny Osbourne - Studio 1 album with Truths and Rights on it - think its called Truths and Rights?
Ras Michael and the Sons of Negus - Kibir Am lak
I-Roy - Black Man Time
Bunny Livingstone - Blackheart Man

Dubs - on Joe Gibbs, chaps 1, 3 and 4 and Majestic Dub
Jack Ruby - Black Foundation Dub
Soferno B - Dubs in a 1980 style
Keith Hudson - Brand

Best of all - King Tubby meets the Upsetter at the Grass roots of Dub - know its been called before, forgot who by - but respect, you know yer stuff like

Reggae is the one area of music where I generally prefer compilations to full albums.

(Augustus Pablo being the exception that proves the rule)
I love his stuff, East of the River Nile is a fave of mine.

There is an LP of that name as well as the fantastic track which is on a Soul Jazz comp I believe.

I got a few new to me classics on 45rpm a couple of years ago when Trojan did the re-issues of stuff in fascimilie of their original labels. Shame it stopped. I'll dig a couple out tonight.
