Any of the %dynamite series would make my day!!

Studio One in general...

All the stuff on the label (Soul Jazz) tends to be good. Studio One Rockers is my personal fave. They have a night in London I believe. Sadly I live too far away :(

That's the one! I've got dat :)

But will have to listen to it later, listening to a thingy called 'Dubbed On Planet Skunk' (with Zion Train remixes and so on) cos after that nasty Xmas shopping experience , I needed a higher level of chill ... :p ;)

Will have to check some of the other reccommendations on here. Gregory Isaacs has done lots of good stuff - but I don't know the albums.

Misty In Roots - Live At Counter Eurovision

is my favourite

It's incredible that Norman Grant hasn't reissued this, I guess there must be a legal wrangle 'cos I've often seen him in Brixton supplying his back catalogue to the reggae shops.

I've just burnt it to CDR for someone, if anyone else is after a copy drop me a pm.

Blood & Fire had a good relationship with Yabby You so reissued some of his best stuff.

Best is the Jesus Dread set

Which one is that Ringo? If it's any good I don't mind giving Hucknall some cash!

What choose just one?????

This is so perplexing i could go on all night but in short my first alb was Bob's Exodus. I'll happily pass away listening to Natural Mystic:cool:
Then came stuff like King Tubby meets rockers uptown which blew me away, later on i started picking up stuff like Steel Pulse and Handsworth Revolution but when I’m feeling nice, nice, nice, i have to reach for Wa-Do-Dem by Eek-A-Mouse.

Englishman by Barrington Levy, Pete Tosh and Legalize, and a nice compilation i have on LP, now out of print though i got a 2nd hand american import rec.., called Strictly for Rockers often gets a play and I never tire of Babylon by Bus, Rebel Music, Mouse A Mania,….

You see it’s too hard to pic one:cool:

Tis all good:D

aswad - live and direct (although they went off the boil after this)
horace andy - in the light - pure roots goodness

Haul And Pull Up Selecta: Heavy Weight Dancehall on trojan records, still on cd but if anyone knows where I can get the vinyl let me know please!

Uptown Top Ranking is great :)
So is Prince Far-I -- Under Heavy Manners
Just listening to a bit of Prince Far-I -- 'Dubwise' now ...

I had a happy Christmas cos my brother as promised got me the Yabby You Jesus Dread album -- some excellent tunes and versions, been listening to it loads :)

Perhaps not so much of a classic as many mentioned but the album I have probably played most over the years

His Majesty is Coming - The In Crowd

the first time I really heard reggae , introduced by Chris Hill to a funk/soul audience at the Goldmine on Canvey some time in the late 70`s . changed my record buying for the next few months.

Dub Syndicate - Acres Of Space
Just love the song Wake Dem Up

Burning Spear - Best of

Toots and the Maytals (dunno what album, it's the anthology or best of)

I'm going to dare mentioning UB40 again, cos tthey got a surpisingly mild, even positive, reaction last time. They have/had such an uncredible image!

But last night, I was listening to 'Baggariddim' for the first time in absolutely years. There's some amazingly good vocals on that! :D

U roy - dread in a babylon

This was one of the first albums I ever owned.
I only saw him once in france a few years ago and I was very impressed.
Amazing to hear several hundred french people sing every word of natty rebel.

Aye, that's a toptastic album. In fact, U Roy was one of the first reggae artists I ever heard next to Marley. I used to go to a blues club in Hitichin ( )and skank away till the early hours to his dub-style dance hall.

was just looking him up and i cant remember whether it was dread in a babylon or natty rebel i had.
either way, he's a star.
wasn't he the first jamaican toaster? which would make him one one of the first people to ever MC/rap/call it what you like?
