fucker can't even sing.
He's certainly no worse a singer than Bob Dylan, and did write a few decent songs, but given that he was the son of a Tory councillor, and was afforded a nice grammar school education, followed by a stint at St. Martin's college, singing about privilege does seem a tad hypocritical.

Single parent family and a former grammar school. But why let facts start bothering you now?

Isn't... isn't the song actually about being at St Martins College? And are working class single mothers not allowed to be tories now?

I recently came across this video, Pulp at Reading '94, singing (possibly for the first time) their mega-hit Common People. It's a rough and unfinished song, and a very enjoyable performance, and really weird because no-one is singing along with it.

That was great thanks killer b :)

It's taken me 14 years to cast my vote in this poll!

Me too. Also I thought His n Hers was their first album

The correct answer though, is 'We Love Life'. A glorious record that I've been coming back to time and time again. And still I only just spotted Jarvis' whispered refrain of 'nougat, nougat' on 'Wickerman'.
