Though I like Megadeath as well, there songs seemed to start off well then just lose there way. Rust in Peace is good but MOP is better. Actually anything Pre Load, is better than any Megadeath album. I have all their albums bar, Killing is my Business and nothing since Risk.

I can't decide between master of puppets , sta anger and the black album.

I got into them through the black album so tis dear to my hear. Master of puppets is epic but some of the songs are tad long. St anger is brutal.

ummm errr i really dunno.

megadeath are toss though!

puppets!!!!
almost a perfect album except for that goddamn awful track 'leper messiah.'

What?!?!? Leper Messiah is fucking ace! The riff is extremely heavy and Very Metal!

Master of Puppets is my vote.

I've just ordered a new electric guitar. Ibanez RG321, if anyone's interested. tomorrow I shall return to the classics and break it in.

Yeah the great company brought something good out in him, he was nothing without the others as proven by his musical output since he was rightly booted out of the band. :p

He was booted out of the band because he objected to Hetfield kicking his dog, I don't see how that's "right".

Mustaine did say afterwards that there wasn't room enough for him and Hetfield in the same band, so probably it would have happened anyway.

He was booted out because he was an obnoxious shit.

and ulrich isn't?

anyways, forget about hetfield vs mustaine.

kerry king can kick both their heads in.

Dunno never met the guy, I'm just going by what I've read from interviews, never heard the Hetfield kicking the animal thing before.

Er not likely. I reckon Metallica lost its soul when Cliff died (he was the musical core of the group as admitted by James), it just took a few albums for that to manifest itself.

AJFA didnt even have audible bass - wtf were they thinking?

newsted had his own style as a bassist.
for some reason, on ...AJFA they didn't let him express, or write - to the point he wasn't even heard!
we all knew he joined for the fame and money.
and ulrich/hetfield had a good bassist there.
and instead, they wasted his musical talent.

it was cool to hear him as a voivod member.
the raw energy of katorz reminded me of his flotsam and jetsam days.

I think you may be thinking of the mix of Justice where Newsteds bass was basically none existent? You can hear Burtons on the first three albums alright...

Yeah, thats what i mean. Its a big contrast from their previous stuff where the bass had a strong presence.

In hindsight (rockstar egos aside) they were in a shaky position having lost a critical member, so it seems like a strange move to release an album with no bass (or identical bass & rhythm riffs). Theres a fan-mix of AJFA on youtube with added bass btw, if anyones interested.

Newsted's bass part too closely follows the rythem guitar tracks. Apparently he wasn't at the mixing sessions either so couldn't have had much of a say. Maybe being the new guy, they wouldn't have listened to him anyway.

From what I've read it was more to do with Lars and James not being able to handle having lost Cliff, and giving Newsted (Newkid at the time) a real hard time.

Yeah I've read a bit about that too. Think when he quit a few years ago, he said the piss taking never really stopped all the years he was with them. Though their apparently on better terms now.

KE. Think the alternative mix might be out on the p2p networks. I'll try find the link where I read that.

Yeah he alluded to the idea that it never really stopped and that was part of why he left in some interviews I've seen (did you read that famous playboy one when they all basically slagged him off and vice versa?!).

Can't remember where I read it. Not seen that interview though. Haven't really kept up. never got round to seeing that Some Kind of Monster thing. Think that was around the time Hetfield went into rehab.

I recall reading rumours that Kirk Hammett wasn't actually on that album either, and Hetfield played all the guitar parts. Don't know if that's got any truth behind it.

That's news to me, never heard that one before.
