Favourite London cinemas

    Was pleased to have the opportunity this afternoon to go to our local independent, the Phoenix in East Finchley, one of the oldest continuously running cinemas in the UK. Being a one-screener you can't always see what you want, when you want, so we don't go there as often as some others.

    I do like our local former Odeon, now at Everyman at Barnet, but not sure how long it will survive as it never seems very busy, although that is one of the reasons we like it. The only bad thing about the change to Everyman is that it seems to do a lot more late showings (9pm+) rather than 8pm which often gets a bit late for us, especially on a school night.

    Centrally, I like the former Renoir in the Brunswick centre, now the Curzon Bloomsbury. Bu
    it of a funny underground warren, but always a nice place to see something.
