To my shame I haven't seen nearly enough of those films.

Fearless is a truly memorable film. The sequence where the plane crashes, seen from the hero's point of view, is terrifying. My wife refuses to watch, but then she is a flight attendant.

The only problem with Fearless is Rosie Perez.

That strange whine that escapes from her head.

Blackboard, fingernails, scrape.

I always feel a bit unconfortable with film stars playing mentally disabled characters, but he doesn't do that. He played an alien who doesn't quite know how to move in his new human body and it was a very inventive performance. It's very rare for actors to get a nomination for a sci-fi film, so it was quite an achivement at the time.

Another version of the same thing, but with a different take on things: Brother from Another Planet.

the best film Bridges has been in is The Last Picture Show. Indeed, it's one of the 4 or 5 best films ever made IMO. Absolutely wonderful film-making
Don't think I've ever seen that... must add it to my list.

Isn't he in a film that's out now?

How could I forget The Last Picture Show? I agree that it's one of the best films of all time.

i'm torn between the big lebowski and the fisher king...

The Fisher King needs your vote, tufts! :D

And besides, in addition to a brilliant Bridges' role, it's also got one of the only bearable wacky Robin Williams performances and Amanda Plummer and Mercedes Ruehl...

;)
